I mean, that’s too many pictures, but it’s better than wasting a whole printed photo on your boyfriend’s hand in front of the lens, right? Travelling and photography go hand-in-hand and whether we want to admit it or not, modern travellers all secretly like to return home with our Instagram feeds looking at least a little like a travel catalogue. How to find the most Instagram-worthy spots when you travel It’s certainly not worth just visiting a new destination to hit up the most photogenic spots before moving on, but planning your trip around a few beautiful highlights will help you save time doubling back to see things you missed or worse – getting home to find you missed some of the most beautiful sights while you were there! When I’m planning my itinerary, I will normally go to Instagram and search for my destination’s location tag and look for inspo for some beautiful and photogenic spots.
you’re keen to travel with or can’t seem to get your friends to commit, doesn’t mean you can’t visit your dream destination solo. Even in the day, it’s easy to stand out as a visitor, so remember to keep your belongings close to your body, and don’t entertain anyone who wants to invade your personal space – its better to be rude than to be pick pocketed. While most of the city’s top restaurants are booked out months in advance, one of the many joys of travelling solo is the opportunity to grab a “table for one”. Famous for its colourful houses, Table Mountain views and close proximity to the city, its the Bo-Kaap’s Cape Malay culture and the sound of the call to prayer that rings out several times a day that really makes this neighbourhood special.
Trying to decide where to stay in Cape Town, whether its your first visit to the city or you’re a local looking for a little staycation, is like standing in front of the best breakfast buffet you’ve ever seen in your life and trying to decide on just one pastry. (I like finding little local cafés too, but I like having the option to eat at the hotel), and a central location so that I don’t have to spend too much on Ubers or public transport. My room was big (about twice the size of a room in New York or Paris) with a big patio, a view stretching from the pillowy windows of the next-door Silo Hotel to the sparkly wheel of the V&A Waterfront, a smart TV, bedside USB charging ports (my fave) and a huge bathroom. The hotel is so modern and it’s obvious that it’s been thoughtfully designed with modern travellers just like me in mind –
We’ve chopped, we’ve added hair extensions, we’ve done damage control and we’ve done maintenance. It’s actually my all-time favourite anti-ageing range – I particularly love their Exfoliant Fluid (a good burn) and Hydro Foam Mask ( There’s nothing like a good manicure to make you feel like you’ve really got your life together. and I personally feel like there’s only one thing better than curing unwanted signs of ageing and that’s preventing them.
