My five year blogging anniversary was a few days ago on April 7. I had grand plans to publish this post on the actual date, but then I was in Minneapolis working at the Final Four and UVA just so happened to WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP (!!!), so needless to say, I’ve been a tad sleep deprived
For those of you unfamiliar, Morrison House is a cozy 45-room, Federalist-style boutique property located right in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. Morrison House also has a super exciting new program that’s right up my alley called Bedside Reading, where they provide hotel guests with a carefully curated selection of free (! ) books that guests can enjoy during their stay and then take home. Bedside Reading curates the selection to align with the region and the hotel, so guests can develop a connection to the hotel and destination through the books during their stay. When you walk into the Morrison House’s lobby from its beautiful front entryway, you’re greeted by a beautiful piece of art—open old books with an outline of the Potomac River painted on.
Those of you that have been following me for a while know that margaritas are my go-to libation and I love how easy Master of Mixes makes it for me to enjoy a craft-quality cocktail at home. If you take a look at the photos in today’s post, you may notice something exciting—Master of Mixes has a remixed look! Plus, since Master of Mixes imports single-pressed, never-concentrated blood orange juice from the growing regions of Italy, the flavor is unreal. I like my margaritas frozen, so I blend together a large handful of ice with two ounces of tequila and four ounces of the Master of Mixes Blood Orange Margarita Mix.
I’ve been a little overwhelmed with everything I have to do before I leave for the Final Four on Thursday (! ), so naturally, last night I procrastinated everything on my to-do list and took a nice long walk around the Tidal Basin to see Washington, DC’s famous cherry blossoms in peak bloom. Though Smithsonian is the closest Metro station to the cherry blossoms, I hopped off at my usual stop, Farragut West, and then walked towards the Tidal Basin down 17th Street. It’s been several years since I’ve seen the cherry blossoms in person, and they were just as breathtaking as I remembered. It was a great reminder that people come from all over the world to see the cherry blossoms, and I’m lucky enough to have them in my own backyard.
