Willowdean (‘Dumplin’), the plus-size teenage daughter of a former beauty queen, signs up for her mom’s Miss Teen Bluebonnet pageant as a protest that escalates when other contestants follow her footsteps, revolutionizing the pageant and their small Texas town. The story follows the course of Eddie Huang’s Taiwanese family as they make their way from Chinatown of Washington, DC to Orlando, Florida, to open a cowboy-themed steak restaurant in 1995 (with the first five seasons being set between 1995 and 1999). According to Wikepedia, “It is the first American television sitcom starring an Asian-American family to air on American network primetime since Margaret Cho’s All-American Girl, which aired for one season in 1994. The detectives report to Sergeant Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews), a gentle giant and devoted family man who is initially afraid to go back to active police work for fear of dying in the line of duty and leaving his children fatherless.

You still want to feel and look like yourself, and that’s why accepting your postpartum body can be so dang hard. With self-love and care practices (like joining support groups, positive affirmations or seeing a therapist if you’re struggling with postpartum depression), you’ll feel confident and beautiful again. I feel comfortable with my new body, my sleep schedule, and staying home with my son and spending less time at work. I want to share the real stories, the nights I was so tired I would cry when the baby would wake up crying, the weeks of chapped and bleeding nipples and feeling like my body wasn’t doing what it was supposed to, all the early days looking in the mirror and wondering who the girl was that was looking back at me.

Self-care is no longer a priority because there’s a whole lotta people relying on you for things that feel more important. She also knew she needed help to start feeling like herself again, so she booked a session with me. Reconnecting to yourself, feeling sexy, and residing in a space that’s totally judgement-free is going to help boost confidence and self-love. I have always struggled with self love and self confidence, but let me tell you, Alicia has seriously brought out my shine.

With spring right around the corner (knock on wood), I figured what better time to share these shots featuring Babe K in a super cute floral set. When we shot, it was cold and gnarly, but I was feeling springtime vibes for sure. If it’s still chilly where you are, I hope these help bring the warmth to you! Babe K works a lot and is an amazing mother, so I was glad we had the chance to do something just for her.
