Highlights
A Weekend in Newport, Rhode Island

We flew in to Boston early so that we could grab some breakfast and coffee at a favorite local spot before picking up our rental car and driving down to Rhode Island. We didn’t have too much time to explore because we were heading to town for a wedding, but we did have just enough time to marvel at our hotel – more on that soon! – and walk a bit. The hotel is filled with so many fun surprises, like a bright pink and purple parlor, a dimly lit billiards room, and a sweet walkthrough with bistro tables for breakfast. Our A+ server even knew that one of the cheeses on the cheeseboard had animal rennent, which she promptly told my mom when she mentioned she eats a vegetarian diet (rennent is not vegetarian-friendly, if you’re a strict vegetarian).

4th of July Menu

My 4th of July menu featuring 3 make-ahead sides and an order from ButcherBox. If you’re thinking about picking up some meat to grill on 4th of July, I’d highly recommend checking out ButcherBox. And, just in time for the holiday, if you order from ButcherBox be sure to snag the free 4th of July bundle featuring Pork St. Louis Style Ribs and Italian Sausage – free for new members! 1/2 of a watermelon, cubed or balled with a melon baller 1 cup multi-color tomatoes, halved 3 tablespoons queso fresco 1/4 cup pickled red onions 10-20 sprigs cilantro, torn 1/2 teaspoon Tajin 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 1 tablespoon evoo 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice 2 tablespoons honey 1 tablespoon water 1.

Exploring the Pacific Northwest

My sister called me a few months ago and told me she was planning to surprise her girlfriend and propose(! ) while on their trip to the Pacific Northwest. I spent a few nights exploring Seattle and visited a dear friend, then we hopped in her car and drove a few hours south to Cannon Beach, We checked into our (GORGEOUS) Stay Alfred apartment for the weekend and perhaps took a little too much time admiring the space and the views – We’ll start wth Seattle, then perhaps I’ll share a few snippets from Cannon Beach, then on to my favorite – Portland.

Getaway Atlanta Trip

A little Q&A about our Getaway Atlanta experience Let me tell you first and foremost, I am not a camping aficionado. There’s a two burner stove where you can heat up your coffee as you’d like, and I believe they even have packets for purchase in each cabin – or you can bring your own. There’s little walking space, but you’re mostly going to be hanging out in the big window bed or outdoors by the fire, anyways. It’s also stocked with kitchen essentials like silverware, a pot, a pan, bowls, plates, cutting board, knives, scissors, towels, cooking utensils, oil, salt, pepper, and a few other items you may find useful during your stay.
