and we are about to do something crazy: together with two young and aspiring filmmakers we are going to make a documentary about the digital nomad lifestyle, living and working independently and our goal to create new stories about work, time, money and stuff. We are shooting this documentary for the ever growing group of people that are becoming conscious of the fact that life can be a lot more sustainable, independent and filled with freedom and adventure: the digital nomad community. A life where work no longer plays the central role it does now and an impulsive, adventurous lifestyle is becoming the new normal. With our search through central america and within ourselves we hope to inspire many others and to stimulate them to consciously and confidently choose for themselves and the life they want to live.
Since a week we are back in Mexico:) We have been enjoying good times with friends and family in Holland for almost seven months We are staying in Playa del Carmen in a very nice appartement called Lilas del Mar. It is close to the ‘Quinta’, the infamous shopping street of Playa but more importantly, it has very good wifi and it is very close to the beach. Soon we will travel south towards Costa Rica but this is going to be a special trip with a special purpose so we will write more about that trip in an upcoming post.
Over the last six months, Steven has been training very hard for his first serious triathlon, a 70.3 Ironman in Aix en Provence, France. When the arrived at the starting location they found out pretty quickly that the swim had been cancelled because of the weather condition and the temperature of the water. six months of preparation, for nothing… It took him a day or two to fully absorb what hat just happened before straightening his back again and looking forward to the future. Steven now enrolled in a triathlon in Mexico on October 2nd and will keep training (he loves training anyway;)).
All the stuff that is so typically Dutch and makes us feel right at home like the food, the weather and our dear friends and family are always a true gift after being away for a long time. But also new things like teaching others to become digital nomads, entrepreneurs and website builders is something that we love doing. Isa, our baby girl, is also enjoying Holland and growing so fast, we are thankful to share these months with her grandparents:) And of course we have a lot of fun on our bikes, in the pool and on the road training for upcoming triathlons.
