The Neat Nook is a blog that inspires a beautiful, creative and organized life in this busy world. Written by Kate Andersen, a creative consultant, writer and mom.
When I honestly couldn’t remember the last time I had exercised or had a fresh salad (the romaine lettuce scare worked in my favor on that one) I’m currently working on a plan to get off my duff more frequently and get into a good schedule that includes more fresh veggies, less sugar, more water, less wine (a smidge less, anyway). In a season that can easily lead to excess (of everything), here’s hoping we can find simplicity – and feel good about it along the way. I plan to keep sharing fun finds and inspiration on Facebook from time-to-time, so be sure to like and follow The Neat Nook.
These small glass pots are the perfect size for holding a small bouquet or even a few succulents planted right inside like this! For the pin-cushion, you just need a few items: * piece of cardboard cut to the size of your jar lid * piece of fabric large enough to stretch across the top * hot glue gun to secure the fabric to the cardboard In the picture below, you can see the supplies I used. As the final idea (for now, anyway #cantstopwontstop) these little glass jars are the perfect size and shape to hold candles. Once the wax turns to liquid, pour it into your glass jar with the wick in place and let it cool.
Our local weather guy (who’s decently reliable) is predicting light flurries on Monday, which will send everyone to the store scrambling for milk and bread. We also did a few other interesting activities, so here’s a look at this week in pictures! Wanting to really dig in, learn more about my quirks, and understand the world through other people’s eyes (in a healthy way), I bought the book The Road As a sneak peek, here’s something I’m cooking up…a pretty little matchstick jar that can be paired with homemade kindling.
The reason I bring this up is that if you want to reuse the jars with a lid, you’ll need to purchase them. Here’s the jar once you’ve licked it clean (and maybe washed it, too) along with the plastic lid. The label peels off pretty easily, but if you’re having trouble removing all of the glue, I suggest something like this Goo Gone. This next idea is a little closer to my heart…using these jars to organize small items!
