Www.sensationalbabyboomers.blogspot.co.uk. Style and travel blog for the baby boomer generation, created by best friends Anne Crowther and Anne Hadfield.
I am so pleased to say I haven't got the same number of wardrobes to clear out as the other Anne as I do try to keep on top of it and assess what I have and haven't worn on a year by year basis. I think the idea of them is fabulous and they should be such a brilliant transitional piece, but I really don't seem to reach for them at any time. This one is also from COS and although lightweight and much more of an oversized cardigan than a coatigan I have still not got much wear out of it. And last but not least is the keeper, this heavy weight cardigan from Boden which I like for its structure and colour.
I've known for a very long time that I have way too many clothes, and since leaving my "corporate" jobs, I no longer wear the same kinds of outfits as I did. I do agree that if some things "give me joy" (ie I love wearing them, love the colour or they have sentimental attachments) then I will keep them, but going forwards I do know that I don't attend corporate hospitality nights at the ballet or business dinners any more, so I don't need those kinds of outfits. For our photo shoot, I picked out a couple of things to keep and a couple of things which I knew I would get rid of - but actually it did not work out the way I thought it would. It wasn't expensive - in fact it was one of those impulse buys online from a company I had never heard of, so wasn't expecting it to be very good quality.
Okay, the first thing to say about this outfit that it was taken immediately after Anne's Greek holiday during which time she put on six pounds!!! The result is that the T shirt does look a little snug around the middle in these shots - but the good news is she has now lost the weight again! Interestingly she has disposed of many clothing items since the blog began - having seen how terrible she thinks she looks in some of the clothes, they have either been consigned to eBay or the charity shop! The white top was a sale purchase from M&S at £10, but she has since spotted it even cheaper as the sales draw to a close. She has teamed it with some lightweight crepe green wide-legged pants which will be great for her next holiday since they are quite cool to wear, even in the heat
The first photo is taken outside our beautiful mini apartment at the Antigone Hotel , and shows me wearing one of my favourite tops from Julien Macdonald at Debenhams in acid yellow/green (now sold out but similar one here ), worn with white jeggings from Marks and Spencer. The watch is also one of my favourites from Swarovski , while the bracelet is rose gold and bought at a jewellery fair at Castle Howard a couple of years ago. The see-through beach bag is great for either during the day, but works just as well in the evening as it has a plain white bag which can be used as a clutch or for making sure your valuables are not on display. a couple of years ago and can be worn either as a cover up or for evening wear over jeggings - again from Julien Macdonald at Debenhams a while ago, while the sandals were bought in Thassos last year.
