We’ve been in Oaxaca, Mexico for about 3 weeks and in that short time we have learned about the traditions and art of shell candle making, quesillo making, weaving and cacao/chocolate making. We spent 5 weeks exploring Greece and this was one of our favorite places. Despite being the 2nd most visited site in Greece people have not heard of Meteora. The area is stunningly beautiful but what makes it so extraordinary are the cliff top monasteries. These impossibly perched monasteries were built by hand by monks who scaled the steep walls of these rocky pinnacles carrying materials piece by piece over the course of many years. Some fell to their death, others survived but would never see the completed sanctuaries.
