I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. I am a city girl who finds joy in escaping to nearby beaches every once in a while. I worked in the advertising industry for a few years as a Producer and Production Designer.
When I am not busy adulting, I am always looking for small adventures since I get bored really easily and I always take my friends with me. You know, whoever is up for it. This year, I may have gotten too far — as far as New York City to be with my love, Gerald. And since I just changed last names and zip codes and am currently adjusting to the new life in the big apple, I’m hitting pause on adulting and focusing on settling down.
I recently opened a blog (www.ibayjam.com) because I wanted to have an outlet for all my thoughts and experiences, somewhat an extension of myself. I am also maintaining my Instagram page (@ibayjam_) where I post photographs that I took - people, places, and food. In both media, I will be writing about the things that I am passionate about – be it my relationship, my love for food and travel, my past and future work and career, or my never ending quest to find a piece of home in a foreign land. You can expect honesty and reality from me.

This picture sums up half of my winter days. My mood has been up and down lately, thus it’s affecting my productivity. Plus, the cold weather is just making me lazy and giving me headaches. But today, my braincells are cooperating with my deadlines, so I chose to abuse them. But I think after 14 straight hours of working, I’m done for the night. I miss the laid back isla life. 😪 How to be rich without working?!
I’m so happy I found this baby – Aima Beauty 1.25″ Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron! and I am not also well-oriented about products, but I do know ceramic material is better as it keeps my hair smooth and shiny, and it doesn’t really destroy my hair as it it not that harsh, and at the same time it keeps it as how I want it. I’m really forgetful and you know how dangerous these things are when it’s left on. I’m not saying that I will actually leave it on, but it’s nice to know that it has this safety feature.

If you’ve heard or been to Boracay, you know how nice it is – white sand beach, hotels, parties all night We pay them around PHP 50-80 (it was 20 minutes away) per trip, and they are on-call, if we ever want to get picked up anywhere in the island, they will be there. Almost every [tourist] beach in the Philippines has island hopping activities. Aside from, of course, island hopping, they usually include snorkeling or diving, and sometimes cave excursions.
Niagara Falls is a city (apparently lol) in Niagara County, New York State. Niagara Falls State Park was recognized as the oldest state park in the United States. Going back a week before we left home, I was browsing through Groupon travel promos and I found a good deal for $70/night at Sheraton Niagara Falls. And since we were too early for the 4pm check-in time, we decided to take a stroll around Niagara Falls State Park.
So, I started blogging again! It’s been a while since I did this sort of stuff. Last time was before #Multiply shutdown. You guys remember Multiply? Lol. Anyway, I’m going to try to write again since it’s a good outlet for my feelings and stories, an extension of myself, my thoughts in words. So since we are newly weds (kind of), and it’s summer, we decided to take a road trip upstate New York. – Green Lakes State Park in Syracuse, and Niagara Falls in Buffalo. After that night, we were so tired but we decided to go to Green Lakes Park early because we have to drive to Niagara Falls after that. I hope you guys will consider visiting the Green Lakes State Park, and stay at The Craftsmann Inn.
This is probably one of the very few selfies I publish in my IG. But it’s worth posting because —- yey! I actually got to experience snow for the first time. When I was very young, I really though it snows in some parts of the Philippines. I watched too many Christmas Disney movies lol. Anyway, I’ve been here for a year and there were some snowy days, but today I actually rolled over the snow, touched it and had brain freeze because of it lol. It was a different experience! It was happiness - for like 5 minutes until I started feeling cold 🤣 But still happiness!! ❤️
Today marks my first year here in New York! Happy Anniversary!! It’s been a rollercoaster. New York is a whole different world from where I grew up. It has taller buildings, scary people and above all - the best transportation system next to Singapore lol. It’s not at all how I imagined it to be, but at least I got @crusherftl here. (Thanks for not giving up on your drama queen wife! Lol.) I’m so excited for this pandemic to be over so I can maybe experience “the real New York” everyone’s talking about. 🤷🏻♀️ Pfizer, kaya end of day? Thanks. PS. I’m trying out new filters.
Just feeling a little homesick right now because it’s close to Christmas and it’s getting cold-er. Looking back at pictures I just realized that the only thing stopping me from going on a trip were deadlines and Monday presentations, and of course the occasional wallet drain due to partying. It wasn’t hard to get anywhere, I just needed to pick a destination (or sometimes, just randomly hop on a bus). It’s that simple. Now there’s coronavirus, freezing weather for 6 months and the summer is just so hot I can make my own tuyo/tinapa in one day, and no pretty or empty beaches. And there’s no @thecoffeebean in New York!! Oh well, life happens. 🤷🏻♀️ I miss home. 🇵🇭
Today is Thanksgiving, my very first Thanksgiving ever. As everyone would say, it’s been a tough year. But let’s look past all the crazy and say what we’re thankful for. I’ll start! I’m thankful for my family, @crusherftl, and my new family - their warm hugs and smiles make me feel the most welcome. I’m also thankful for the friends who stayed despite the distance, the friends who I reconnected with, and the new ones that I met. That being said, thank you @zoom for being the bridge that connected everyone in this pandemic. I’m thankful for my clients - the ones who still believes in me and the new ones who put their trust in me. Believe it or not, I’m thankful for COVID-19 for making us a little stronger and tougher this year, for making us realize what truly matters.
