We're Trina and Tim, also known as Team Hazard, and we want to bring you along on our trip around the world. We always share the real story of the places we go, not just the tourist sights and glamour shots.

He's legally blind, diabetic, overweight, hypertensive and recovering from a broken leg. I'm just fat and fifty.

We've been traveling since December 1st, 2017 and our adventures have been pretty awesome, from close encounters with orangutans to exploring awesome temples to camel riding in the Sahara, we try not to let our physical limitations slow us down.

Join us! There are plenty more adventures to come.

Chiang Mai vs Chiang Rai

The temple’s name actually doesn’t translate to Blue Temple at all- rather, it means ‘dancing tiger’, named after the tigers who used to live in the region. Most travelers to Chiang Rai know about the White Temple and the Blue Temple yet few know about this incredible statue out in the countryside. The contrast between Chiang Rai’s White Temple and the Black House is quite apparent, and the different emotions conjured by the two have been dubbed the ‘heaven and hell of architecture’. Chiang Mai, the largest city in northern Thailand and the capital of Chiang Mai Province, offers an easy-going city vibe as well as an amazing tropical environment.

When You Don't Speak the Language

If you’re in a restaurant, once you have the attention of the waiter, hold one hand out, palm toward you and with the other hand pretend to write on that hand like a piece of paper – or like signing for a bill. Usually people appreciate any effort you make to speak their language, even if you mangle the words a bit. On the other hand, if someone is trying to tell you how to get somewhere or giving you a destination (like where to find that replacement suitcase you need), don’t hesitate to hand over your phone, if they seem tech savvy, so they can locate it on the map for you. You want to know how much to pay, but the cashier doesn’t speak English, and you haven’t learned the numbers in the local language yet.

Our Favorite Things to Do in Java, Indonesia

How We Fell in Love with Jakarta Jakarta is a big city through and through, the kind of place most people don’t want to stay for more than a few days. Okay, so yes, tuk-tuk drivers pull some wild maneuvers, like I mentioned, but they do it with full understanding of how traffic flows in Jakarta. There’s a rule about roads in Jakarta, that once you start crossing the street, don’t stop, don’t rush, but don’t hesitate. This video doesn’t show the wildest ride we went on, but it is a very typical one, and I like the way it shows both the traffic flow and the everday life of people on the backstreets of Jakarta.

Komodo Dragons, Bena Village and Hobbits in Indonesia

When we set off to travel around the world, Indonesia was our first stop, and Flores Island was the second island we visited in Indonesia. The Komodo Island boat tour is practically a must-do for anyone going to Indonesia. While we were on Flores, we visited Bena Village, Todo Village and Liang Bua, the Hobbit Cave, and we have videos covering those portions of the trip (click on the links to watch). Bena Village was our favorite stop on our Flores tour in Indonesia.
