Anyway, you can take the bus from the airport into Palma and from Palma to Deià or Palma to Sòller… and from other points (Magaluf where Nikki Beach Mallorca is back and forth to Palma).. but to get to the truly beautiful and secluded beaches or to the lighthouse and other points of interest… If you’re staying in Palma de Mallorca for the evening, you may as well head back after your beach-time to freshen up and walk through old-town. You can spend hours hiking and exploring this area, which is exactly what a Dutch friend of mine did and she had some amazing photos to prove how spectacular the views were… worth the bruises and scratches she earned hiking all the way to the cap! The port is a charming place to spend time in and has a lot of history, as you’ll find in my Sóller post… Deià – I’ve created the best of Deià in a separate post because in my opinion, it is a little taste of heaven on Earth.
What Lonelyplanet won’t tell you (unless maybe if you pay $27.99 for the print edition on Spain), is that the best view of Deià can be seen at Hostal Villaverde. Although I had no problems… Deià itself is a hilly town (similar to Valldemossa) so I would advise you to just be aware of that when you’re thinking about luggage or walking shoes. *warning: it can get VERY windy and VERY VERY cold… so even though they do offer blankets, be aware of that! : I’m a little salty because the waitress working here was very dismissive of me and wasn’t very helpful when I was trying to be polite and speak in Spanish, but alas— Café Sa Fonda has live music (you’ll have to check the days to verify) but is also situated in the center (everything is central since it’s so small), which means— enjoy your drinks and live music in the heart of Deià! : Check out Cala de Deyá which is just a 5-10minute drive down from the central area
