So that's it, I'm really back into the habbit. It's Friday!⁣ ⁣ I met this donkey in the medina of Fez 🇲🇦 on my first day wandering around. The old town has of course no cars so they use donkeys to carry trash and a bunch of other stuff. You find them quite often and one of them ran into me! (not the one on the picture). I have been back to Morocco 🇲🇦. After... 35 years. So for this trip a few weeks ago, I chose Fès as I hadn't been there before. The temperature at the end of September was supposed to be around 27 and it ended up to be 38 😩⁣ ⁣ I visited the Chouara Tannery. Can you believe this tannery has been in operation since the 12th century? It's one of the 3 tanneries in Fès and the oldest.⁣ ⁣ Tanning is done manually the traditional way, and it is really hard work! It's quite impressive. The skins are first put in some kind of mixture of water, salt and pigeon poop (yep) After getting washed they are transferred to the dyeing vessels (see picture). All colorants are natural: Red from Poppy flowers, Green from Mint, Orange from Henna, Yellow from Saffron, Blue from Indigo, Brown from Cedar Wood...
