In June of this year my Family and I took a land vacation to Italy. It seemed like All of the Hotels were very expensive, and we didn’t want to be falling all over each other for five nights in a small hotel room. Since the kids are 17 and 19, I like for them each to have their own bed. I found a wonderful Apartment in the San Lorenzo neighborhood.

We actually went in to eat there on the first night From what I have read of the reviews, it is truly traditional Roman Dining. The owner/head chef actually studied cooking in New York city for about 9 years. He speaks in a great new york accent.

I have visited Arlington National Cemetery a couple of times and seen the changing of the guard, tomb of the unknown soldier, and JFK’s grave. There are stops marked around the park of where you hop on and hop off the trolley I had thought that there were only military graves in the cemetery, but there was a lot more. I knew that there was a Tomb of the unknown soldier, but had no idea that there was a tomb of the unknown civil war soldier. One interesting thing I learned was that just because the monument is huge doesn’t mean that the person was high up in the military, that is just what the family wanted to pay for.

The upper two floors and dedicated to culture-the achievements and impacts African Americans have made on Movies, Television, Literature, Theater, Art and Sports. This was a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation, if the slave did not pick enough cotton they got beaten, If they picked a lot of cotton one day they were expected to pick more the next. There was an exhibit showing the history of “Black Face” and really shows that these characterizations were just demeaning to African Americans. This exhibit was very interesting as well, It showed African Americans and all the achievements they have made in all Sports.
