In 1933, Joe Primanti opened a lunch cart in Pittsburgh's Strip District selling sandwiches to the hungry truckers who were coming and going at all times of the night. Encouraged by sales and positive feedback, Joe expanded to a small storefront where he was joined by his brothers Dick and Stanley and their nephew John DePriter. I'm at the National Weather Association Conference in Pittsburgh and got to see a Pirates game with fellow meteorologists Saturday night when i arrived. PNC Park is beautiful! i checked out Primanti Bros. for dinner & got a pastrami & cheese sandwich. (learned that french fries inside the sandwich is a Pittsburgh thing) We rode back to the hotel via riverboat, which was a great way to see the city! Storms and post-game fireworks lit up the sky later, a beautiful view from the hotel! The Reds beat the Pirates 10-1.
