Hi there! I write a family travel destination blog, based from Colorado. Outdoor adventure travel ideas, tips, and vacations for western USA and all over the world. Best resorts, national parks and road trips with kids, plus camping tips, hotels, and restaurants recommended for families who try to stick to a budget.
This sweet half-day hike along the Kanarra Creek Canyon Trail through some pretty rad slot canyons to the playful Kanarraville Falls (aka Kanarra Falls) used to be somewhat of a hidden gem. While the word is out, a half day’s stop to hike to Kanarra Falls Access this hike from the small southern Utah town of Kanarraville, which happens to not be too far from Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. See the slot canyon and waterfalls in pictures, then read *
Check out Browns Creek Waterfall Trail for a half day adventure that ends at a refreshing waterfall. Cruiser rides, road rides, mountain bike rides, and fat tire bike rides are all possibilities in this area. Visit Boneshaker Cycles, where they offer a full range of bicycles and their down-to-earth staff will help you find the right bike for the right ride. With names like Bob's Rock, Turtle Rock, Chicken Runner, and the Chocolate Tower, climbing options abound, all within a few miles of town.
Where are the best hot springs in Colorado for soaking your cares away on one heckuva scenic road trip? While known for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, camping, snow skiing, and so much more, this Rocky Mountain state is also home to some amazing geothermal hot spots. Here are our favorite Colorado hot springs resorts and pools for outdoor adventurists looking to sample a variety of hot tubs and soaking pools, perhaps while their kids take a ride down the adjacent water slide. If you don’t have time for a road trip, many of these make great destinations for a weekend or one night stay with lots of soaking.
I'm still amazed my parents carved out time and money to treat us four kids to this to two week adventure through California. Piling into our pick-up truck, my mom and dad rode shotgun while us four kids were conveniently separated by glass windows and a camper shell. Sprawled out across the truck bed on top of foam mats and sleeping bags, when we needed a rest stop, we banged on the windows and flashed up a "BATHROOM PLEASE! That 1982 trip bound our family together through new shared experiences and showed us kids that rest, play, and family time away together were important.
