Highlights
Go on an adventure with Explorer Academy

Go on an adventure with Explorer Academy Explorer Academy is Trudi Trueit’s newest series for kids, and it’s just as great as we were expecting. In Explorer Academy, 12-year-old Cruz Coronado leaves his home in Hawaii to attend the prestigious Explorer Academy, just like his mom did when she was his age. The Explorer Academy series hails itself as a fact-based fiction series, and the author says the stories are partly inspired by real-life adventures of actual National Geographic explorers, which is really cool. EXPLORER ACADEMY revolves around 12-year-old Cruz Coronado, who is excited to be accepted by Explorer Academy, an elite school for young explorers, just the way his mother was when she was his age.

Things I wish I had known about the Toniebox

You can buy Tonies that have singalong songs, ones that have stories and songs, and ones that you can make your own From princesses to bedtime stories, and with all the big names in Disney magic, it’s easy to find a few Tonies your kiddos would love. n’t just fun little tools to get the Toniebox to tell your favorite stories, they are also absolutely adorable little hand-painted figurines of your child’s favorite characters. I guess that’s the real magic of Tonies and one of the biggest things I wish I had known about the Toniebox.

Matching Girls Monday: Girl Power

This post is not sponsored, we just wanted to share our new GRLPWR shirts to celebrate some serious Girl Power here. Growing up, I didn’t know the political affiliations of even half of the Presidents who had previously held office or whether I agreed with their policies on just about anything, but I could tell you they were all men. And even though it looked different than I could have ever imagined, just knowing that a woman has finally busted through the glass ceiling of the White House makes me so incredibly happy. To celebrate strong women everywhere, we wore our Girl Power {or rather, GRLPWR} shirts from The Gap, paired with a sweater from Target and workout leggings from Target on our recent hike.

Pandia Health: Making Periods Optional

We talked about women’s cycles, birth control options, about risks of menstruating, benefits of telehealth services, the pain of insurance battles, and just about anything and everything in between. When I spoke to Dr. Yen, she said that even though you can use any birth control pill for continuous cycling but some progesterones might be better than others. There’s also a list of medical conditions that continuous birth control can help improve, like acne, PCOS, diabetes {less cycling = stable hormones = better glucose control}, certain seizure disorders, bleeding disorders, and more. Dr. Yen co-founded Pandia Health and enjoys educating the public and other physicians about birth control, acne, weight management, and other adolescent health issues.
