The guided day tour starts with a boat trip to a local village and continues with a 3-4 hours hike walking up on the waterfalls. There is no other way to reach the village than by boat from Nong Khiaw, which is a good experience and only takes one hour and costs 35 000 kips. Kaeng Nyui is a beautiful 20-minute drive away from the center of town on the east side of Vang Vieng. You can simply drive around Krabi with a scooter (200-250 Baths/day) or you can take the local open-back buses passing every 10 minutes along the main roads. The journey from Krabi to Khao Sok National Park takes about 4 hours with a bus and costs 300 Baths. It’s definitely cheaper to use the local buses, the subway, or the Skytrain, but from my experience, if you stay just for a few days and don’t know the city by heart, using them can be a lot of stress and waste of time. You can also rent a scooter ( 250 baths), a tuk-tuk a driver (about 800 baths / 4 hours), or simply use the blue open-back buses.
