The first time Jared brought me here I had JUST found out my job offer in SF was retracted. I was suddenly unemployed and about to spend 2 weeks at the family cottage w 8 family members I barely knew + Bruce 🐶⠀ ⠀ What could have been a super depressing few weeks of feeling shitty about myself, ended up being the most beautiful and relaxing vacation I had taken yet ✨ That dedicated time away from “the office” made me realize how good I felt surrounded by nature, amazing humans and well... less work.⠀ ⠀ It was this trip that sparked my desire to find an alternative route to the “full-time hustle” and uncover the secrets of the #freedomlifestyle⠀ ⠀ Penticton has such a special place in my heart but with covid my 2020 visit looked a lot different. ⠀ ⠀ Just Jared and I sans family and no dog 😢 It was definitely not the same as the previous summers (see photos of Team Schachter-Kort) but the memories of where all the magic began made it special nonetheless 🤍 #summer2020

Do you have a relationship mantra? We came up with “better together” after catching ourselves in a bad habit of focusing on what we were “missing out” on bc of our relationship.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ There are many small and even a few large compromises we’ve each made to be together. One of many nights that never would have happened if I stopped at my first no.⠀ ⠀ I recently created a #podcast on “3x I was rejected but did it anyway”. It’s easy to talk about it now that I’ve “come out on top”. ⠀ ⠀ LOOK AT ME WITH THE MIC! 😎 but at the time, these setbacks were wretched.⠀ ⠀ There’s a lot of ego in success. I want to be seen by you as a winner. ⠀ ⠀ The pressure to maintain that is so unrealistic tho that when we inevitably struggle over a setback we’re HUMILIATED and hide it.⠀ ⠀ ★ True story ★ - after I lost my job offer in San Francisco, I STILL went to my going away party with a smile bc I was embarrassed to tell everyone what happened. That they took back their offer and I wasn’t moving. ⠀ ⠀ I cried in the bathroom in between cake and champagne 🍰🥂⠀ ⠀ Sure - NOW I can talk about it. ⠀ Look at me I’m free, MFs! 🤟 ⠀ ⠀ I’m gonna try to own my failures when they happen. Successful ppl have setbacks. It’s how we respond that decides the winners.
