My husband and I are recovering expats currently residing in Texas. We love scuba diving and traveling with our two young daughters, sharing our stories and experiences along the way.
Opt for the Regional Bahn that follows the Rhein for fantastic views before switching to a high speed train. Once in Munich, head to the Biergarten in Englisher Garten to enjoy a refreshing beer For a lighter drink, opt for a radler which is beer mixed with lemonaid). It's a little ways outside of the city center in a quiet residential area, but the owners are some of the friendliest people you will meet.
He's been pretty awesome throughout the whole pregnancy - giving in to my cravings, getting me another glass of water, painting my toenails when I could no longer reach them - so, really, I can't complain. 'You're not fat, you're just huge.'' He told me, he meant to say, ''You're more pregnant than me.'' That's not what he meant, he just meant that you're huge'' Not quite sure how this is better than, ''Holy cow! ''
From the minute he introduced himself, you could tell this guy lived and breathed (sorry for the pun, I couldn't help it) 50 years ago, some guys from Gothenburg wanted to dive, but dive gear was not only hard to come by (especially in Sweden), but also incredibly expensive. The company was originally called Aqua Sports, but the name was already trademarked in many countries when they decided to take their products international, and so the name was changed. Gothenburg is a major shipping city (and has been for hundreds of years), and there is even a statue of the Greek god.
We booked a 3 day tour with White Trail Adventures located in Kiruna, a small mining town in Swedish Lapland, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. The wind was blowing, the snow banks were taller than us, and the temperature was cold and crisp, refreshing after the damp, cool winters that Germany has. After getting our gear sorted out, and getting dressed for spending an extended period of time outside, our guide Nicole gave us our first lessons on operating the sled. It's not rocket science, but there are a few important parts that we needed to know: how to break, how to anchor it, to NEVER let go of the sled, and what to do should we tip over (a normal occurrence).
