Treehouse Lodge is located on the beautiful black waters of the Yarapa River – a tributary to the Amazon River near Iquitos, Peru. This area is apparently a feeding ground for pink river dolphins and gray river dolphins, which means you’ll be able to see and take pictures of river dolphins on a regular basis! I think One Earth Peru, specifically the 5 day/4 night tour, would be a great option to experience the Amazon for a few different reasons! Day 4 | Shipetari - Aguas Calientes (Shintuya): Boat upstream to the to campsite in Aguas Calientes, lots of wildlife along the way.
Although Jordan and I aren’t big tour people, the one type of tour we adore is a good food tour. I honestly don’t know what I was expecting when I heard about Siem Reap’s Pub Street, but it is exactly what it sounds like: a ton of bars overrun by tourists. Jordan and I actually just walked around Pub Street this night, and really spent more time here the next day while we killed time before heading to the airport, but it’s really fun to see it at night because there are lots of lights and decorations that you cannot see during the daylight. Someone on our food tour had recommended that we check out Sister Srey Cafe, so we walked over from our Airbnb (Siem Reap is incredibly walkable), and had a great breakfast.
I’m going to go over what you’ll need to send in to the consulate before the actual application process, but you have to actually apply online before you can send anything in. Jordan and I have been working with a wonderful travel agency, Anywhere Peru (shout out to Cesar, who is my best friend), who couldn’t yet provide us with exact flight plans or hotel bookings, so we sent our travel itinerary in its current state, which included flight times, just not flight numbers and exact flight information. You can either send in a copy of a bank statement with sensitive information blacked out, or what Jordan and I chose to do is send in a photo copy of the front and back of a credit card (literally, the credit card), again, with sensitive information blacked out. We think this is referring to where the visa will be issued, but I’m pretty sure that Jordan and I typed in separate things on our applications and they both got approved, so who knows.
Skyroam has lots of data plans to fit your needs, ranging from $10/day to $9/GB to $100 for unlimited data/month. Those who travel to remote places or countries that are not in the US’ top carrier’s friendly countries list, those traveling in groups, as this can cut down on the price of international data, or those wanting to skip the hassle of paying $10/day per line to keep their current carrier’s plan. Those traveling mostly in the US, solo travelers going to places where they can take advantage of their home country’s international plan (although Skyroam makes it so easy, maybe consider it! ). * Who should skip this: If you travel for short periods of time, where you can fit everything you need for your whole trip in a carry on, this might not be the gift for you.
