June 19th 2020, aka “Juneteenth” I, a 22 year old black woman, officially opened a business bank account for my LLC. ⁣ ⁣ Wow. ⁣ ⁣ On this day, years ago slaves in Texas realized they were free (although slavery was outlawed almost two and a half years earlier). They had no clue what to do next but they made it work and continued to make it work although systems were in place to limit their success. ⁣ ⁣ After reflecting on this day, I am currently writing this, tears streaming down my face, with many different mixed emotions that at the time I cannot explain. ⁣ ⁣ All I can say at the moment is I know my ancestors are up rejoicing and cheering me on. ⁣ ⁣ Support black business today, and every day. (This means actually making an effort to purchase from black business owners AT THIER PRICES) ⁣ ⁣ Continue to use your voice. ⁣ ⁣ Continue to educate yourself.⁣ ⁣ There’s still so much work to do but we are on our way. 🧡 #blacklivesmatter✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

To my beautiful black sisters, you deserve the success you desire. ✊🏽⬇️⁣ ⁣ I was planning on attending an entrepreneurial event once and when asking a friend if they were going to go, she responded. “No, I don’t belong there… no one looks like me” ⁣ ⁣ As a black woman talking to another WOC my heart broke, because she was right no one did look like us.⁣ ⁣ I had the determination to still climb to the top regardless of if people looked like me or not, but in that moment I realized not everyone feels that way.⁣ ⁣ Starting an online business is uncomfortable… but imagine how MORE uncomfortable it is when you can’t find mentors who look like you?⁣ ⁣ Imagine the self doubt you may feel when you inquire about a program and realize that it’s filled with the same race and none of it being yours. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Imagine the sadness and frustration that might overcome you when someone tells you “it gets to be easy” but you know that you have to fight harder than that person because you are shades darker than them. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Welcome to the reality for black women trying to break their way into the entrepreneurial online space and it has to change. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Insert, The Social Star Scholarship Fund. I started this fund to help empower and equip Black women on their online entrepreneurial journey. ⁣⁣ ⁣ There need to be more black women entrepreneurs, we need more black women in the online space rising to the top, and there need to be more safe spaces for them. A place where they feel valued, respected, and seen. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Thank you to everyone who has donated! We passed our goal of 3K and officially can sponsor one new entrepreneur. We are almost at 4K and on our way to 6K to sponsor another.⁣ ⁣ But my work doesn’t just stop here, over @wegotsocial diversity is one of our key values. We are learning more about how we can continue to support creatives of color. We are working to create internships for black creatives and understand more around DACA participants / ones who may have not been able to access it to offer them internships as well. ⁣ To my BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of color) there is space for us here. We matter, we belong and we will SHINE. 🌟⁣⁣

My heart breaks over the news of #GeorgeFloyd another black man wrongfully killed.⁣ ⁣ My heart breaks for his family. ⁣ ⁣ My heart breaks over the people who respond with phrases such as “Well what’s the context” before deciding if they want to feel bad or not.⁣ ⁣ My heart breaks for my brothers. My sweet, respectful, joyful brothers who have to go through multiple protocols before entering stores... “Take your hood off”, “Make sure you make eye contact and smile”, “Hands where people can see them, “They should feel safe around you.” ⁣ ⁣ My heart breaks for moms having to have these conversations to their black boys who probably are too young to fully understand the severity of what’s going on. ⁣ ⁣ My heart breaks over the idea that one day I might have a son. No matter who I end up marrying, my son will be identified as black. My son will have sweet melanin racing through his body and as he grows to love himself there is a chance he will be constantly reminded to still be cautious because he is black and no matter what he does some people will choose to judge him by the color of his skin than his actions and accomplishments. ⁣ ⁣ To the non black parents... teach your kids to not be afraid of any race. To love, and treat others with respect. Be mindful of the stereotypical phases you may say at home that might be brushed off as jokes. Your children are listening, and our children then become effected. ⁣ ⁣ Hug your loved ones tight and do more than just let your black friends know you are there for them.. stand beside them, speak up for them. Let’s make change together. ❤️

I have been in rooms where I have been the only black woman. ⁠ ⁠ In fact, I have been in settings where I am the only woman. ⁠ ⁠ I have been in spaces where A LOT of people do what I do and are more experienced. ⁠ ⁠ There have also been occasions where no one did nor understood what I did for a living.⁠ ⁠ Throughout all of these settings, I had two choices. Play small, and walk away, or show up and TAKE UP SPACE.⁠ ⁠ I chose to make room, in fact I got real comfy. She ensures we understand exactly how she wants to be called. ⁣ ⁣ Which had me thinking, how often as business owners are we announcing loud and proud what we do?⁣ ⁣ Most of us are afraid to announce what we do in fear of not being accepted and or end up failing in front of the people we announced it to. ⁣ ⁣ So we become quiet. ⁣ ⁣ We let the fears of other people's opinions hold us back. ⁣ ⁣ We work behind the scenes and plan on announcing our dreams for when it feels safe. ⁣ ⁣ But the truth is, there will never be a time where it “feels safe”.⁣ ⁣ Running your own business is all about taking risks, and if we don’t own up to our dreams then how are we going to expect people to respect them? ⁣ ⁣ Junie B. TIME TO SHINE IN THE CREATIVITY DEPARTMENT 🎨 ⁣ ⁣ What “at home” photo shoots can you try to whip up? Don’t have someone to snap the perfect shot? No worries! Head over to amazon and buy a phone stand! I got mine for $8! ⁣ ⁣ 2. REPURPOSE CONTENT 👀⁣ ⁣ Remember 3 months ago when you couldn’t decide In between one photo or the other from a photo shoot? It’s time for that runner up photo to have her moment! (No one will notice and or care I promise) ⁣ ⁣ 3. MEMES GALOREEE! (Shareable content)⁣ ⁣ Okay so maybe it doesn’t have to just be memes, but using graphics like this one ⬆️ to spread educational content will allow you to not only get your post shared onto more accounts BUT it also saves you from having to snap a photo! ⁣ ⁣⁣ As for myself, I will be using old photos and creating new shareable graphics until this all blows over :)⁣ ⁣⁣ Can anyone else relate, if so what are you choosing to do for content? Let the hashtags do the work for you ✔️⁣ ⁣ Niche specific hashtags are hashtags that are catered to your brand and also (if done right) are smaller sized.⁣ ⁣ If you are using common hashtags that your ideal client isn’t looking at, your content will get drowned out. Post Sporadically ⁣ ⁣ The goal is to keep your IG story in the front! Try not to post everything at once, yet space it out throughout the day. ⁣ ⁣ Not only will you gain more exposure, people also won’t get too overwhelmed if your story is a little long. ⁣ ⁣ 2. DM frequent viewers ⁣ ⁣ The people who watch your story often probably enjoy your content! Send them a DM thanking them for following along or return the favor and engage with their story! ⁣ ⁣ This will build your relationship with them AND keep your story bubble closer to the front of the list since IG sees you guys engage often 😉⁣ ⁣ 3. 75% Value 25% BTS⁣ ⁣ These numbers are a personal choice, but the point here is to mainly have value on your story if your goal is to sell/promote. ⁣ ⁣ ➡️ Having more value will build the trust factor with your audience.⁣ ⁣ ➡️BUT People are NOSEY 👃🏽so a little behind the scenes is important as well!⁣ ⁣ When I post about Marc, me traveling, or going out somewhere my story views really heighten!⁣ ⁣ (If you put too much BTS and not enough value it will be harder for your audience to believe your credibility.)⁣ ⁣ 4. Talk TO your audience not AT them. ⁣ ⁣ They are your community, not your fans. Have conversations with them by asking them what they enjoy seeing. Make interactive stories so they feel involved as well! ⁣ ⁣ 5. DON’T BE BORING⁣ ⁣ Please, stop talking like a robot! I know going on stories can be intimidating but treat it as if you were talking to your friends. ⁣ ⁣ Be yourself & Have fun! ⁣ ⁣ What were your takeaways? In November 2019 I had a high income month and then couldn’t remain consistent or even close the next month after...⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ I was too burnt out. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ SAVE THIS POST IF YOU ARE READY TO THRIVE IN AN ALIGNED BUSINESS ⬇️⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ Rewind to last year some months were CHA-CHING. Other months it was like pulling teeth to get someone to invest in an offer or SMM offer.⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Let me know if you have made any of these mistakes too: ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ➡️ Spending all day on Facebook groups trying to apply to job opps.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ➡️Creating offers that can be assumed would make you cash.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ➡️Moving from one thing to another constantly.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ➡️Getting discouraged when no one votes on your poll or submit a question in your question sticker. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ Friend, it may seem like we are hustling (where my type 3s at 👀) but this is operating your business out of reactive mode and from first hand experience it does not get you far! ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ Here’s what I did to get OUT of reactive mode and more in alignment with my business ⬇️⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ⭐️ Took a breath for second, realized I am okay and there is no rush. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ⭐️ Shut out what/how others in my field were doing.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ ⭐️Wrote down everything that felt good / what I was passionate about (& only that!) ⁣ ⁣ ⭐️Got very clear on who I wanted to serve. VERY CLEAR. Like I know what’s she’s doing rn 👀⁣ ⁣ ⭐️Developed an effective marketing plan to bring awareness to my new offers. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ So often we can get so confused in the noise that we forget to include the things we WANT to do. We discredit our passions because we FEEL as if it’s not profitable. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This is why I created Clarity with Charity 1:1 coaching. This is not called being indecisive. This is called being multi passionate. Your different experiences is what makes you, you. ⁣ ⁣ After reading @msrachelhollis book “girl stop apologizing” I realized enough was enough.
