3 ways to start booking your dream sessions! If you told me 5 years ago that we'd be regularly shooting adventurous couples sessions where we get to capture couples hiking, exploring, cliff jumping, and swimming in the ocean, I don't think i'd beleive you! That felt like this far off dream, that sure we might get "lucky" and book shoots like that a few times a year, but not all the time! But here we are, getting to work with couples who share our vision of adventuring and celebrating their love story! So here are 3 things I wish I did earlier to start booking my dream sessions. 1. ONLY show what you want to shoot. Even if it's only 2 sessions, it's better to show consistent style over putting out work that doesn't fit your business! 2. Plan content shoots. If you want to only show what you want to shoot, you'll probably have to spend some time building up your portfolio with the new content! So reach out to friends or do model calls! 3. This is my biggest tip, don't be afraid to make suggestions to couples that are more in line with your style! Of course you want their shoot to feel 100% them. People might now know something is an option unless you give it to them! They might totally be up for a hike to an epic view if you just offered it! There is nothing to lose by offering ideas! 6 months of motherhood has taught me: give yourself some dang grace. There is no one perfect path in motherhood. No one has it all figured out. I remember when I was about 4 months in, I had a friend look me in the eye and say "You're doing a really really good job. You are a great mom" and I basically just burst into tears and let out so much emotion I had been holding onto. I didn't realize until that moment, that I had taken on all these outside pressures to "have it all together" or to be the "perfect mom" and I felt like I could never keep up. But her words broke down all the expectations I put on myself and my family, and helped lead me into the truth. That I am enough, that I am the perfect mom for Maro, and that I was doing a really good job, even on days where it feels like I fall short. So whatever season you're in, whether it's motherhood or a job or schooling, give yourself some grace. Let go of the pressures to be perfect or have it all.
