2020 Podcast Metrics

Here are some behind the scenes numbers for The Frug Life Podcast and Blog. Until October of 2020, the podcast ran ads from Anchor.fm, which are still on youtube if you want to listen to them. The sales were book sales (my book A Real Money Book I think Australia is next due to featuring the work of an Australian podcaster and blogger (Frugal and Thriving) in this episode of the podcast.

The Best of the Frug life (Year one)

Well, I thought this would be a good time to reflect on some of the most acclaimed episodes over the past year and a half. If you want to base it on total listens, my episode on Roth IRAs is the most popular with 629 listens. The next most popular episode was Reducing Food Waste, which had an awesome segment from the Frugal and Thriving podcast. Both of these episodes were during a spike in listenership, where I was getting nearly 300 listens an episode.

My Favorite Stock App

First, I was given a great sign up bonus of $50 for investing $1000. Beyond stock trading, they have lots of other features, like I was mentioning above, a savings account, debt refinancing, etc. You will get $50 of stock when you invest $1,000. I was able to use Sofi to by whatever stock I wanted, whereas some actions were restricted recently on Robinhood.

2020 in Review

In 2020, my ending net worth increased 132% percent over last year. My cash positions increased 98% percent although my CD positions decreased 84% (as rates are too low to roll them into new CDs). My retirement accounts increased 285% percent, and my other investments increased 563% percent. But probably 50% of my net worth increase was related to stock/investment appreciation.
