I’m not saying we need to have an all-out luxury spa vacation (although that sounds pretty incredible, too). I’m just saying that we need to streamline the mundane and make some time to sit back and smell the roses, or whatever you’re into. If your children go to daycare, don’t be afraid to take them a little early or pick them up a little later than usual. I’m not saying to do this every single day, but 10 minutes once a week isn’t going to hurt them.
Sleeping more/less, Eating more/less, Loss of interest in activities that were once enjoyed, And the list goes on and on. Pay attention! When people are hurting, sometimes they don’t talk about it, but there’s usually signs. And above all, be kind! You never know the battle someone else is fighting!
Sure...my boobs hang a little lower, but they fed my baby for almost 2 years. My stomach and hips have stretch marks, but they grew a happy, healthy little baby girl. My belly is softer, but it gives my toddler a comfy place to snuggle! This body is so much different, but it has done the impossible. It built a human from scratch, and that’s pretty damn incredible! ❤️
PMADs can look a lot of different ways. I’m good at smiling no matter what. Seriously...inappropriately. 🤷🏼♀️ For me, my smile was my suit of armor. People were often shocked to find out that I was struggling with #ppd “But you always seem so happy.” They would say. Mama, if you’re struggling, you don’t have to hide. You are not alone! ❤️
This is heavy on my mind lately. I’m thankful to have some pretty incredible people in my life. My tribe is pretty great, But I don’t always take the time to really appreciate that. I’m trying to be more mindful and practice gratitude in 2021. People are what matter, and your people NEED you! Don’t forget that, mama! ❤️
There’s some new mamas on this page, so I wanted to take a sec to say hi and introduce myself! I’m Cassie Pigg! 👋 I’m a mom of one wild toddler. After my daughter was born, I suffered from severe postpartum anxiety, but, thankfully, I got help right away. After experiencing a PMAD myself, I started talking about it because I knew nothing until I actually experienced it. I quickly realized that I was not alone, and there were a lot of women out there suffering in silence. So, in a nutshell, that’s why I’m here. To try to break the silence. To try and offer a little support and hope in the darkest hour. I’m not super conventional about this...I do it through humor and sarcasm at times, but it’s all meant with love. If you are struggling mama, know that you are not alone. It’s ok to get some help, and you are stronger than you know! I’m here for you, sis! ❤️
Let’s be real...sometimes being a parent is downright impossible. It’s hard AF, and your child is probably testing every fiber of your being! Sure...it’s also beautiful at times, but that’s not what I’m getting at. Talking about the hard times... That doesn’t make you any less of a parent, And it certainly doesn’t mean you love your kids any less!
