Multnomah is only ONE of the PNW’s waterfalls! Did you know there’s more than 238 to explore in Oregon alone?! And if you do this hike, you can see 10 of them in a single adventure. 🙌 Located in Silver Falls Stare Park, this waterfall trail is about 90 minutes from Portland so it makes an easy day trip! If you want to check out this waterfall hike, here’s what you need to know: 📍Trail - Trail of Ten Falls 🥾 Difficulty - Moderate 🧭 Distance - ~10 mile loop for all 10 falls (AllTrails will tell you it’s less. It’s not.) ⛰️ Elevation gain is about 1000 ft 😃 Fun features - 4 waterfalls you can walk behind, a nature store, and a cafe! 🚗 To park at the trailhead, you’ll need an Oregon State Parks Pass or a $5 day pass. 🕛 Drive time from Portland is ~ 90 min ‼️ Many portions of this trail are NOT dog friendly (Canyon, Winter, Maple Ridge & Twin Falls) though you can visit Upper North Falls with your pet! ✨ Tag a friend you want to do this Oregon waterfall hike with! ✨ #waterfallhikes #waterfallwednesday #getoutandhike #idhikethatcrew #peoplewhohike #waterfallhike #waterfallsofinstagram #pnw_waterfalls #pnwwaterfalls #wishyouwerenorthwest #pnwexplorations #destinationpnw #pnwhiking #waterfalls #waterfallsoforegon #oregonwaterfalls #traveloregon #findmeoutside #adventuremom #outsideisbetter #hiddengem #thingstodoinoregon PNW Adventure Women • Oregon Family Adventures • Best Oregon Waterfalls • Waterfall Hikes in Oregon • PNW Summer Things to Do • Bucket List Hikes • Pacific Northwest • PNW Travel • Oregon Activities • Day Trips from Portland • PDX Family Adventures
I swear I’ll get to them all…eventually. 😅 Are you the kind of person that goes through their bucket list methodically? Or are you just winging it? Me? Sometimes I just let my ADHD take the reigns and do the hike that feels right - even if it jumped past all 7,328 already on my list. 😅🤷♀️ Which one is most like you? ~~~~~~~~ Women Who Hike • Oregon Hikers • PNW Hikers • Adventure Women • Hiking Lovers • Outdoor Lovers • Women Who Adventure • Adventure Women • Adventure Lovers • Hiking Humor • Bucket List Hikes #outdoorsy #outdoorlovers #adventurewomen #womenwhohike #oregonadventures #pnwadventures #pnwadventure #getoutside #getoutdoors #getoutdoorsmore #pnwadventurers #natureisawesome #hikinghumor #getoutandhike #peoplewhohike #adventuremom #findmeoutside
Must-See Beach Waterfall the PNW 👇 📌 Save this one for your Oregon Adventure Bucket List 📌 If you love the beach AND waterfalls, this one is for you! Hug Point Recreation site is one of the first beaches we visited after moving to Oregon when the kids were little. It quickly became one of our all-time favorites because of the waterfall, tide pools, caves, and more. The waterfall also creates a small stream that heads out to the ocean that’s perfect for littles (or big kids) to play in! 🙌 After parking, head down to the beach and turn right. Walk around the first point and you’ll find Hug Point Falls on your right. When the tide is out, you can continue on past the falls to explore the caves and tide pools along the path to the point. 📍Trail - Hug Point Trail/Recreation Site 🥾 Difficulty - Easy 🧭 Distance - 0.7 mi out and back (less if you’d like) ⛰️ Elevation gain is about 49 ft (navigating steps down to the beach) 😃 Fun features - beach waterfall, tidepools, caves 🚗 No parking fee at this Oregon State day-use site 🕛 Drive time from Portland is ~ 1 hour 40 min ⌚️ This walk itself takes us no more than 20 minutes from parking lot to falls and back, but we always make a day out of it! ‼️ Be aware of the tides ‼️ There have been a few instances of people getting stranded as the tide comes in so be sure to check tide tables before heading out and always stay alert. ✨ Tag a friend you want to do this Oregon waterfall hike with✨ #waterfallhikes #waterfallwednesday #getoutandhike #idhikethatcrew #peoplewhohike #waterfallhike #waterfallsofinstagram #pnw_waterfalls #pnwwaterfalls #wishyouwerenorthwest #pnwexplorations #destinationpnw #pnwhiking #waterfalls #waterfallsoforegon #oregonwaterfalls #traveloregon #findmeoutside #adventuremom #outsideisbetter #hiddengem #thingstodoinoregon PNW Adventure Women • Oregon Family Adventures • Best Oregon Waterfalls • Waterfall Hikes in Oregon • PNW Summer Things to Do • Bucket List Hikes • Pacific Northwest • PNW Travel • Oregon Activities • Day Trips from Portland • PDX Family Adventures
If you’ve ever wanted to walk behind a waterfall, this hike’s for you! It’s Waterfall Wednesday and today we’re adding to our PNW Waterfall Hikes Bucket List 🥾 We did this trail with our kids and it features not one but THREE waterfalls! 🙌 All stats are pulled from my recording in @gaiagps. (If you don’t use it yet, you can use our affiliate code: STOKE for 20% off or comment STOKE and I’ll send you the link!) 📍Trail - Horsetail Fall Trail to Middle Oneonta Falls 🥾 Difficulty - Easy-Moderate 🧭 Distance - 3.41 mi out and back (more if you’d like) ⛰️ Elevation gain is about 546 ft (mostly in the first 1/2 mile) 😃 Fun features - THREE waterfalls (including one you can walk behind!) and views of the Columbia River Gorge 🚗 No parking fee 🕛 Drive time from Portland is ~ 1 hour ⌚️ This hike took us 2 hrs 22 minutes with kids (including eating a meal under Ponytail Falls 😉) ‼️ Trail conditions can vary, particularly after rain and some sections of this trail are very narrow with steep drop offs More Details: ✨ The first waterfall (Horsetail Falls) is steps from the parking lot, so it’s ideal for those with littles or mobility issues. To get down to the base of the waterfall there are steps, but you can see the waterfall from the top of the stairs. ✨ Oneonta Gorge beyond Horsetail Falls Trail on Oneonta Trail 424 is open if you want to extend your hike, but Oneonta Gorge (which is separate from the trail) remains closed after the 2017 Eagle Creek Fires. 👉 Love hiking, the PNW, and outdoor adventures? Anyone else fall UP the stairs?! 😅 Or is it just me? Either way, this is your reminder that there’s no requirement to do everything “just right” to enjoy the outdoors. 🥾 You don’t have to have fancy hiking boots to hike - running shoes with good traction totally work! 🎒 Don’t have a hiking backpack? No worries. Pack up a comfy backpack with the essentials. ⛰️ Adventures don’t have to be epic to count!! An easy trek in a local park or forest can be just as fun as a challenging mountain hike. And most importantly, if you look a little silly sometimes, it’s totally okay. I love my passenger princess status 👑 And this man! 🥰 *Slightly sappy post alert 😜* We’re usually not commercial holiday people (like we never go out on Valentine’s and if we give each other cards it’s usually in the card aisle before we put them right back 😂) But yesterday, we celebrated our 18 year anniversary 😅 and Father’s Day is this weekend, so when I came across this audio and couldn’t resist. There’s no one else I’d rather do this life with! He goes along with all my ambitious plans, happily drives us all over the place, and even carries my paddleboard up not-so-easy trails just so I can SUP all by myself in epic locations. 🙌 It’s safe to say he’s my best friend and my lobster. 🦞 Who’s your favorite thing about your partner? Cannon Beach Weekend Itinerary (📌 Save for planning!) If you’re planning a weekend getaway to the Oregon Coast (or hope to soon), you’ll want to save these ideas to help you make the most of your stay. Here are some of the best things to do, places to eat, and more to help you plan your trip itinerary. Day 1: Arrive and settle into your hotel or vacation rental (we were graciously hosted on our recent stay by the @innathaystackrock ) Spend the afternoon browsing all the cool shops and art galleries in town - a few of our favs were @cannonbeachbooks @geppettostoyshoppe and @archimedesgallery) Grab some saltwater taffy for the weekend @schwieterts Eat dinner in town - try @pelicanbrewing Catch golden hour/sunset at the beach Day 2: Breakfast at @lazy.susancafe - Their eggs benedict and marionberry scones were awesome (cash only) Walk the beach to Haystack Rock at low tide to check out the tidepools (be sure to check the tide tables) Snag a quick lunch at @crepeneptune - they have both sweet and savory crepes, then Stop at @piegirl_cannonbeach - this hidden gem has delicious mini pies on the honor system (check my last reel!) Pick an afternoon activity: playing in the sand and the sun on the beach, browsing the shops some more, or head to one of the nearby State Parks (both Ecola State Park and Oswald West are just a short drive away) Grab some pizza from cannonbeachfultanos - they even have goat cheese which is awesome for those of us who can’t tolerate regular (cow’s milk) dairy (we opted to take ours to-go and have a family game night in our cottage). Day 3: Catch the sunrise (if you’re up for it), then pack up Stop at @sleepymonkcoffee on your way out of town to fuel up with some caffeine and freshly baked pastries - I highly recommend the bagels and cream cheese! Have you ever been to Cannon Beach? If so, what’s your favorite restaurant or place to visit? Listen up, Adventure Mamas! I know I talk a LOT about family adventure around here - getting out there to build relationships and have incredible experiences together. And I still wholeheartedly believe that doing these things brings our family closer together. But you know what ALSO makes our family closer? ✨ Parents who aren’t burnt out. ✨ Parents who fuel their own adventure soul. ✨ Parents who TAKE A BREAK. ✨ Parents who come back rejuvenated and (mostly 🤪) ready to tackle daily life again. ✨ Parents who are HAPPY. One thing guaranteed to do this for me? 👉 Adventuring with other badass women. This year has gotten away from me and it had been way too long since I had time to do what I love without my (dearly loved and cherished 😉) family. But last week I FINALLY got to adventure with other women who get it - and it was just what my soul needed. So today I have an assignment for you. Don’t be like me and let time keep passing before you carve out time for yourself. Look at your calendar and find a time when you can do something you love. ✨Without the rest of your family. ✨ It can be as small as going on a walk or hike with a friend or as big as booking a trip. Just pick something that you love for YOU. Not for anyone else. No guilt allowed. And then (because we all know accountability goes a long way), comment below 👇 and tell me what you’re going to do and when. I can’t WAIT to hear what you’re going to do! In the meantime, I’m super curious - have you ever met up with internet “strangers”?
: I can’t wait to test this one out more and plan all the road trips with everyone we haven’t seen enough lately! Limited waypoints in the free version: The free version is still perfect for day trips or simple trip plans, but we do wish there were a few more waypoints on the free plan. like us and love having the right tools (but also love a good deal), be sure to use promo code: STOKEFAM when you sign up at Roadtrippers for $5 off. But, most importantly, it’s the tool we need on trips to help us navigate without stress, change our plans on the fly, and still enjoy the journey from the passenger – or the driver’s – seat.
A few years ago, we were traveling to our favorite local mountain to take the kids snowboarding when I made a big mistake. They have a compartment lined with tarp-like material for boots on the back, a top zipper for helmets, goggles, and face masks and two side zipper pockets perfect for socks and gloves. If you’ve ever seen us at the mountain or talked with us about gear, you’ve probably realized that we LOVE our Airblaster Ninja Suits. We’ve also learned that until the kids are at least 8 or 9, it’s not worth it to waste your money on expensive, ultra-fancy gloves.
While you can definitely find boards fine-tuned for riding specifically in one area of the mountain, all-mountain boards are great at handling it all. As we mentioned above in the snowboard types, each snowboard type can vary in typical size (shorter freestyle boards vs. longer freeride boards). If you’re new(er) to riding, boards with a mild rocker/camber/rocker (hybrid camber) profile can be a great place to start. However, when you’re figuring out how to choose a snowboard, focus on the kind of riding you like to do and the conditions you’re likely to be snowboarding in to help guide your decision.
Because I don’t know about you, but as soon as things change, I’m gonna want every bit of extra cash possible for travel. Truth be told though, I’m actually a tiny bit bitter about the fact that Volcom didn’t have this color last year (and I’m totally trying to justify a second coat). And, I don’t know about you, but scrambling around town (or online) to find things like gentian violet isn’t my idea of fun. And, if you’d like to support the local Portland small business community even more, check out the wide variety of businesses at PDX SOS that really need our help to sustain themselves through this season.
