Continuing the Flashbacks of the last decade of travel, and gotta say that Pompeii was a huge highlight. Interesting that when we did a roadtrip in 2015 i wasn't interested in visiting Pompeii, as i felt it would be sad and morbid. A year later... i did go to Pompeii. I found it very captivating. Here in Akaroa for a few days to look at the historic buildings and sit in our hotel waterfront balcony with a bubbly & seafood platter. During yesterday's evening walk we passed St Peterâs Anglican Church during #bluehour It was buit in 1864 from totara wood. For Europeans, a building from1864 is considered young! Having met while travelling 20 years ago, my partner Geoffo and I left our jobs almost six years ago. But in truth, after five years of fulltime travel, an extended stay in one place sounded like a good idea in 2020.
