Women and people with vaginas are more prone to contracting herpes (and other vaginal infections). Our yonis are absolutely fascinating. With their self-cleaning ability, their delicate microbiome and pH balances, the ability to self-lubricate, to push out a human being, and to take a good pounding once in a while. But with all of that being said, the skin of our yonis is very sensitive. Our yonis are prone to vaginal/vulval tears which can leave us susceptible to vaginal infections and STI’s, especially genital herpes (both HSV-1 and/or HSV-2). All week I’ve been talking about HSV-1 transmission from oral cold sores to genital herpes. And many people responded that this is how they contracted genital herpes - their partner who gets oral herpes (HSV-1), transmitted it to their genitals, resulting in the obvious - genital herpes (HSV-1). But interestingly enough, they didn’t contract oral herpes from their partners (and I’m assuming when there’s oral sex involved, there’s usually kissing involved too). There might not have been any tears in the skin around the mouth area, but if there are vaginal tears, that can leave you more susceptible to contracting herpes from your partner - whether they have genital and/or oral herpes. It can also leave you more vulnerable to getting other vaginal infections too like yeast infections, BV and potentially other STI’s. Here are 3 tips on how you can prevent vaginal tearing: 💧Drink lots of water consistently throughout the day. 💦Make sure you are always well-lubricated. If you aren’t wet enough and/or there’s too much friction, use a pH-friendly, water-based lube! 🥑Eat good fats! Foods like avocado, eggs, salmon, nuts, seeds, and good-quality oils like olive oil and coconut oil. ✨If you would like more tips on what you can do with your diet to maintain your vaginal health, check out my blog posts on my website which will give you some valuable high-level info! ✨And if you live with herpes and want to know more about how you can manage, prevent and heal your outbreaks and prevent transmission to partners, check out my HEALING HERPES HOLISTICIALLY online guide. The feminine urge to go back to Bali. Big news darlings - I’m going back to Bali! I took your advice when I asked you if I should go back to Bali, and when you all enthusiastically responded YES, I decided to book my flights to go back for a few months! I used to live in Bali in 2019, that’s when/where I started the Yoni Nutritionist. It has a very special place in my heart, for many reasons. I left Bali right before the pandemic hit because I needed a break for a bit, especially after I had a big scare and near-death experience when I got stung by one of those fucking murder hornets (AKA Giant Asian Hornets) and went into anaphylactic shock and almost died on the front lawn of a yoga studio. SInce COVID hit I haven’t been able to go back, so going back now feels like a dream! I can’t wait to go back to my second home, see all my friends, surf, collaborate with other health, wellness and spiritual coaches in the women’s health field, and take some much-needed and well-deserved time off while I’m there. I will still be working a lot though and good news for my Aussie babes, I’ll be close to your time zones which will be easier for collabs, podcasts, interviews and 1:1 support calls! And to my North American and European babes, I’ve changed my calendar to reflect the Bali time zone and have made myself available in the super early mornings and late evenings/nights so that I can accommodate your schedules if you want to book a call with me. I’m still here to support you! And as always, I’ll be sharing ALL the valuable content as I always do, with different topics every week, so stay tuned to my broadcasts from paradise and I can show you a bit of what it’s like in beautiful Bali while I share valuable info on your vaginal and sexual health! Also just an FYI - if you send me a DM or email in the next few days, I won’t be able to respond right away because I’ll be in mid-air for like 30hrs. But if you’re interested how I can help you, in my programs, if you want to book a call with me, or find out how else I can support you, you can find all the info you need in the LINK IN MY BIO. See you all on the other side of the world!! 📸 @thedanielsaputra
✨CLIENT RESULTS - F*CK Candida✨ This is a great way to physically see the results from my F*CK Candida online program, which is my signature version of the Candida elimination diet (especially because I can’t show you photos of vaginas!) The first photo is of a client (who gave me permission to use these photos) and the second one is of me. We both struggled with oral thrush (basically a yeast infection in your mouth), which is one of the many symptoms of Candida overgrowth. The top photos are when our oral thrush was at its worst, the bottom photos are post-candida diet. Candida overgrowth is an overgrowth of the species of fungus, Candida albicans, which live in your gut. But when it overgrows, it can cause a lot of health problems which can wreak havoc in your body. One of the signs that you have Candida overgrowth is a white-coated tongue like in these photos, especially when you wake up in the morning. Other symptoms include recurring yeast infections, BV, and UTI’s, skin issues like cystic acne and eczema, digestive issues, abdominal cramping, bloating and gas, hormone imbalances, anxiety, depression, and many more. If you’re curious about learning what some of the other symptoms of Candida overgrowth are, check out my other posts I’ve written about it and my most recent blog post on my website! (Link in bio). Candida overgrowth is something that many women struggle with yet is not very well-known, and unfortunately, doctors don’t know much about it and don’t offer solutions to treat it. If you think you may be struggling with Candida overgrowth, I can help! In my experience of healing from my own personal Candida overgrowth an helping many women with theirs, the Candida elimination diet is the ONLY thing that will help you get to the root cause to eliminate it. My F*CK Candida program will give you all the tools and knowledge to know exactly where to start, what to do, and how to do it. And I know it works because it’s worked for me and the many clients I’ve helped eliminate their Candida overgrowth too. LINK IN BIO for more info!
Why alcohol may not be good for your vagina. Trust me, I love a good cocktail (or 3), a glass of wine with dinner, or sharing a bottle with friends. This has always been one of life’s simple pleasures for me! But if there is anything I’ve learned with my own personal vaginal health journey, helping many women with theirs, and my education as a holistic nutritionist, it’s this: DRINKING ALCOHOL IS NOT GOOD FOR YOUR VAGINA. I’ve recently come off a 6-week Candida elimination diet. As I’ve been reintroducing foods back into my diet, I’ve also had a couple glasses of wine, and wow am I ever feeling the effects. The brain fog, mild depression the next day, low energy, and the cravings for salty carbs and fat. It’s honestly making me consider if I want to take a break from drinking for a while, especially because I was feeling so amazing when I wasn’t drinking! Here are a few other reasons why alcohol is bad for your vaginal health: 🍷Alcohol is high in sugar - even the lower-sugar, clear alcohols like tequila & vodka - they still contain sugar which is BAD for your vagina 🥂Alcohol can throw off your hormones which can cause a lot of stress on your body, bad PMS symptoms, irregular periods, and even fibrocystic breasts (like me!) 🍸Alcohol can weaken your immune system leaving you susceptible to viruses (like herpes outbreaks and HPV) 🍹Alcohol is a depressant - which can leave you feeling sad and moody both in your mind AND in your vagina, especially if you experience HANG-xiety 🍻Alcohol is dehydrating - which can leave your normally juicy WAP, drier than the Sahara desert 🥃Alcohol is a toxin which puts extra stress on your liver, especially when your body is trying to detox excess hormones, toxins and bad bacteria/fungus If you’re sensitive to vaginal infections like yeast & BV infections, UTI’s, HPV and herpes, it’s good to be aware of how alcohol consumption could be triggering your vaginal health symptoms. If you want to learn more about how to manage them holistically, I can help with that! *SAVE THIS POST if you struggle with chronic BV. This just scratches the surface on how to manage chronic BV symptoms with a holistic approach, but is a good place to start! When managing BV symptoms holistically, you need to look at your diet, supplements. sexual hygiene practices, and your lifestyle. This not only applies to you, but your partner too (*if you keep getting chronic BV from having sex with the same partner). In order to really get to the ROOT CAUSE of your BV symptoms to eliminate them and prevent them in the future, you need to go a bit more in depth than the info I’ve shared in this post. This includes learning about: 🥦which specific foods and nutrients you need to include in your diet 🍔which foods you need to avoid 🥑HOW to eat those foods with proper food combining principles (this is key!) 🧄all of the other specific supplements and their measurements to maintain your gut health and your vaginal pH levels 🧘♀️which specific holistic practices you can incorporate into your lifestyle to prevent BV infections from coming back 😖managing your stress to prevent future BV infections 🩸identifying your personal BV triggers and what you can do about them I teach you all of these things in my BV ELIMINATION DIET (link in bio). This online program that will give you the tools and knowledge on how to holistically manage and eliminate your BV symptoms, and prevent them from coming back in the future. I’ve been helping so many women who struggle with chronic BV eliminate their symptoms who are getting results within weeks of just starting the program. It’s not one of those 6 weeks and you’re done diets, it’s more making tweaks and adjustments to your current diet to get ready for a new BV-friendly way of eating. It’s a LIFESTYLE change. With consistency, time, patience, and some discipline, you will start noticing your symptoms improve and you’ll start to feel more confident in your vaginal health again! #bacterialvaginosis #bacterialvaginosistreatment #bacterialvaginosistalks #chronicbv #vaginalmicrobiome #vaginalph #vagina #healthyvagina #vaginalhealth #vaginalinfection #womenssexualhealth #yonihealth #healthyyoni #yoninutritionist
✨Client Love - BV Elimination Diet ✨ When my beautiful client Orla (featured in this photo!), reached out to me because she was fed up with her chronic BV symptoms, she was fed up with doctors visits and western medicine, and wanted to try a holistic approach to managing her BV symptoms but she didn’t know where to start, I knew that my BV Elimination Diet would help her. And it did! Within weeks she was getting results and I was so excited that she updated me with how her progress was going by making changes to her diet and lifestyle to manage and eliminate her BV symptoms. Bacterial vaginosis is the # 1 vaginal health concern among women and can be really frustrating to deal with, especially when it keeps coming back, even after treatment. I’ve said it all this week on my IG and I’ll say it again, and Orla is a perfect example, that a holistic approach to your chronic vaginal infections is the only way to get to the root cause of managing your symptoms in the long-term! ESPECIALLY if you struggle with chronic BV, yeast infections, UTI’s, HPV and herpes. If you’re struggling with chronic BV, my BV Elimination Diet program will help you. If you’re struggling with chronic yeast infections (AND BV and UTI’s too), my F*CK Candida program will help you. If you’re struggling with HPV - both with cervical dysplasia and genital warts, my HPV Healing Guide will help you. And if you’re struggling with genital and/or oral herpes outbreaks, my Healing Herpes Holistically program will help you. I also offer 1:1 consultations if you need personal support/advice. If you want more info on my programs and how to book a call with me, click on the LINK IN MY BIO. You don’t have to suffer with your vaginal health anymore and you CAN feel better (and enjoy your sex life) again! As a Holistic Nutritionist I believe in healing the body naturally, and I rarely take medication unless I really need to. But let me tell you, when I get a vaginal infection like either a yeast infection, BV, a UTI, or a HSV-2 outbreak (which doesn’t happen often anymore), there is NO WAY I’m going to try to treat the infection naturally. Because sometimes to be honest, a natural approach is sometimes not enough to get rid of the symptoms. I once tried healing a herpes outbreak without antivirals and it took about 6 weeks to heal. Whereas when I take the antiviral medication, it goes away within 1 week. Then in the meantime, I manage my outbreaks with holistic practices so that they don’t come back. And if I do get another outbreak again, it isn’t as severe. It’s the same thing with yeast infections. I do NOT have the patience to treat a yeast infection naturally. The only thing that works for me is those over-the-counter vaginal suppositories that are like horrible chalky pills for your vagina, but that’s the only thing that will give me some relief (Fluconozole doesn’t work for me anymore). But in the meantime, I’m managing my diet and lifestyle holistically so that these yeast infections don’t come back. HOWEVER, when I experienced severe candida overgrowth for the first time, no amount of medication would help it go away. The ONLY thing that worked for me was a holistic approach which included changing my diet, a specific supplement protocol, making changes to my eating habits and lifestyle and reducing my stress. It’s similar to my clients who experience chronic yeast infections, BV, UTI’s, HPV and genital herpes outbreaks. Sure, sometimes you need medication in order to treat the infection and get some relief. But a holistic approach is also important to get to the ROOT CAUSE, so that you can maintain your vaginal health in the meantime to prevent these infections from coming back. If you are struggling with chronic vaginal infections like the ones I mentioned above and want to look into a holistic approach to learn how to manage them, take a look at the LINKS IN MY BIO or send me a DM to find out about all the ways I can help you.
What You Eat is Important to Your Vagina. This week I’m talking about common vaginal infections and why your diet is so important to managing them. If you’ve been following me for a while, you may have heard me talk about this already (a lot). But if you’re new to following me, this may be news to you. Many people don’t realise that your vaginal health is connected to what you put into your mouth. Here’s how it works: ✨Your Gut health - The gut has many functions including digestion, nutrient absorption, and is the home of your immune system, endocrine system, and your nervous system. Everything you eat literally feeds the thousands of bacteria living in your gut. When this bacteria is disrupted (through diet, stress and your lifestyle), you can experience vaginal infections like yeast infections, candida overgrowth, BV, UTI’s, HPV, HSV outbreaks, etc. ✨Your Vaginal Microbiome - Your vagina also has a microbiome that is connected to the health of your gut. When the balance of good vs. bad bacteria in your vaginal microbiome is thrown off, it can cause vaginal health issues like yeast infections, candida, BV, cytolytic vaginosis, and Lactobacillosis (an overgrowth of the GOOD bacteria living in our vaginal microbiome). ✨Your Vaginal pH Balance - Maintaining the balance of acid vs. alkaline in your body is important for your vagina. Your vagina is normally more acidic and there are things that can throw your vaginal pH off-balance like your diet, ejaculatory sex, fragrances (like soaps, detergents, bubble baths, etc.), and sex toys that haven’t been cleaned properly. Vaginal pH imbalance is what commonly leads to BV infections, which is the most common sexual health concern among women. This is why a holistic approach to your vaginal health is really important, especially if you are experiencing chronic vaginal infections. And this is the stuff that doctors don’t talk about. Stay tuned all this week as I talk more about why a holistic approach to your vaginal health works! In the meantime, check out my blog post on my website where I recommend my Top 5 Foods to Balance the Gut & Support Vaginal Health. LINK IN BIO. 📸 @manueldaily

HPV Disclosure - Is It Necessary? Let’s talk about it. This is a hot topic among my HPV+ community and there is definitely a grey area about whether or not to disclose your HPV+ status to a partner. Many women have told me that their doctors have told them that they don’t have to disclose their HPV+ status. My doctor told me the same thing when I was diagnosed with HPV 20 years ago. I think the reasoning is because with the type of HPV I have (cervical dysplasia - types 16 & 18), this type of HPV is asymptomatic in men. And because there’s no HPV testing available for men, they don’t even know if they have it already or not. Therefore, it might cause unnecessary stress, anxiety and worry, thanks to the stigma of it being an STI. It’s very confusing and it blows my mind that there is no testing available for men. The type of HPV that causes genital warts (types 6 & 11) might be where it gets a little tricky in terms of whether or not to disclose. When you have the genital warts type of HPV, the warts can easily be removed once you notice them. But once they are removed, they can still come back if you’re not taking good care of yourself to manage it. I’ve personally never had genital warts but from what I understand, it works similarly to the herpes virus, whereas it lays dormant in your body when it’s not active, but when it’s triggered by something (like stress, menstruation, etc.), it can flare up again (and of course, this is when it’s most transmissible). But it’s kind of the same with the cervical dysplasia kind of HPV but because it’s up in your cervix (and often asymptomatic), there is no way to notice that it’s active, unless you get a pap smear. So there is definitely a grey area when it comes to disclosing your HPV+ status to a partner. I’d love to hear from you if you’re comfortable sharing… Do you disclose your genital warts HPV to a partner? Do you disclose your cervical dysplasia HPV to a partner? With love, Adrienne 📸 by @alix_charvin_photography
When is the right time to disclose? This is a question that I’ve personally been debating recently. It’s a controversial topic - especially for me. I’ve always promoted disclosing your HSV+ status to a partner before having sex as part of safe sex practices and giving your partner the opportunity to make the choice we all wish we had. But I’m starting to wonder if it’s really necessary (at least for me). Here’s my reason why: I’ve been dating and disclosing a lot lately, and have gotten mostly positive but some negative reactions and rejections from men. What I’ve noticed (coming from a straight(ish), cis woman who primarily dates straight, cis men) is this: -Many men have no clue about herpes, STI’s, or even their own sexual health. -Many men would rather avoid knowing and not deal with it. -Many men are afraid of STI’s, particularly herpes because of the lack of knowledge, fear-based sex-ed, and the STIGMA. BUT there are many men who do not give a shit, who are aware of it and will accept you with it, and some who have it themselves too! I’ve been asking myself recently - since I am aware of my HSV+ status and I take good care of myself to manage my outbreaks and prevent transmission to partners (which is working - I’ve never transmitted it to anyone in the 20 years I’ve lived with HSV-2), and if I’m practicing safe sex - do I really need to disclose my HSV+ status right away? It’s so unfair. People with oral cold sores usually don’t disclose. But there is SO MUCH STIGMA with genital herpes - we either feel the pressure/stress to disclose up front, or the guilt/shame after if we don’t. Sometimes I find that disclosing a HSV+ status up front gives it so much power and makes it seem like it’s such a big deal, even when it’s not an issue (at least not for me). Sometimes it can scare the person on the receiving end of a disclosure, especially if they don’t know anything about it. BUT, it is a good filter. For those who get scared or who don’t try to understand it - those aren’t my people. And I’m living in my truth, integrity and doing the right thing by disclosing up front. I’d love to know - when do you think is the best time to disclose?

Why a candida diet isn’t as hard as you think. Many people think of the word “diet” as restrictive, you won’t be able to eat as much, it’s boring, flavorless, you’ll be starving etc. But that’s not the case with the candida diet and here’s why. These are pics of some of my fave Candida-friendly meals I had on my recent trip to NYC. These meals were nutritious, full of flavour, and filled me up for the entire day. Here’s why the candida diet is easy: ✅You are eating more than you usually do. You’re eating 3 consistent meals/day with snacks in between which help maintain your blood-sugar levels, reduce cravings, and keep you satiated longer between meals. ✅You might not need to eat as much because you’re eating good-quality sources of protein, good fats and whole foods that are filling, nourishing, and satisfying. ✅The more whole foods you eat, the less your body craves the crap (it’s the same with alcohol and caffeine). ✅It’s easy to eat out at restaurants when you understand what foods you can eat, what foods you need to avoid and proper food combining principles. Here’s why the candida diet is challenging: ❎It’s hard at first to change your habits but with practice, dedication, and time, it gets easier. ❎It can be a bit of a mind-fuck. The worst part is when you “think” you are being restricted (like not being able to reach for your favourite comfort foods when you want them). It takes a bit of mindfulness to get through those temporary moments, but they always pass! ❎If you don’t stick with it, it won’t work. But it’s only 6 weeks of your life, and it’s only temporary. It’s okay to go off-track once in a while, but when your mind starts messing with you it’s easy to go off-track, and then you won’t get the results you want. A candida diet isn’t hard. It’s just the mind that’s the hardest part because it will try to fuck with you. But I can help! When you are ready to do a candida diet, my F*CK Candida will give you all of the tools and knowledge to know where to start, what to do and how to do it. AND there are a few spaces left in my New Year, New Yoni group candida elimination diet! Registration closes Sun Jan 9. LINK IN BIO for more info!
