Apopka is just 12 miles northwest of Orlando, a short drive to downtown Orlando, the Orlando International Airport (MCO), Disney, Universal and all of central Florida’s top attractions.

The crux of it all is that many marketers want the budget friendly benefits of an editorial press trip (a.k.a. they pay for travel but not for the content) but they also want all the guaranteed deliverables of a marketing campaign and they want to tell you when to publish it and where. Now, professional content creators not only want to travel to cool places, work, write and take photos, but we do all that and have the expertise to ensure our content actually makes it to consumers who want to see it, for years to come. On a media trip with journalists, bloggers and TikTokkers – journalists shouldn’t be the only ones making a living if indeed the content creators’ work is also of value to the destination / brand.

All that said, I’m not going to write a whole 2020 recap this year. that I’m where I’m meant to be, doing what I’m meant to do. I wanted 2020 to be the year I reset my body and my lifestyle, and as horrible as the pandemic has been on a global scale, it may well have been the only thing that could force me to slow down long enough to get that much-needed rest. If I’ve learned anything at all it’s that I couldn’t begin to predict what’s going to happen in the next 10, but I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me.

It’s pretty easy to throw some sort of liquified tomato paste/sauce/juice/soup in a sauce pot/crock pot, mix in some browned ground beef and some kidney beans. Some like it spicy with copious chili powder and even red pepper flakes; others love it with beans (no thank you); some like to make it a little healthier with ground turkey instead of ground beef. Gram’s recipe used old school Campbell’s tomato soup, but I have used tomato paste, canned roasted tomatoes, Chili Fixin’s-flavored Rotel and tomato sauce with great success. I don’t like beans in my chili, but white beans, kidney beans or even black beans are all a great way to get extra protein and flavor.

Much has changed this year in my professional world, but this post I wrote last year on 13 Changes I’ve I’m going to contradict that last paragraph and make a liar of myself now and remind y’all that I’ve been writing this book in drips and drabs for 9 years… I’ve written about working for free ad nauseam, so I won’t rehash, but I’ll tell you that I haven’t been doing this for 14 years to start from the bottom again. It doesn’t look like I’m going to be able to make Kauai happen this year due to COVID, so I’ll be home riding it out.

When you visit St. Croix, check out Christiansted National Historic Site, a public park featuring the town’s oldest buildings, including the Customs House, the Danish West India and Guinea Company Warehouse and Fort Christiansvaern. New York City was home for Alexander, from his college years at King’s College to his quieter, final years in the section of Harlem now known as Hamilton Heights. Hamilton’s family home in New York City, a little yellow house now sitting in St. Nicholas Park, is open to the public.
