    Columbus Day Trip Itinerary

When we went it was me, JP, my brother, my sister, and her 3 kids who are all 4 and younger. Here are some of my favorite photos of the day with the babies: Fun fact about the Columbus Zoo is that Jack Hanna essentially used to run it. I assume that everyone knows who Jack Hanna because he’s been all over tv like late night shows, Good Morning America, and even Maury! When we went the WHOLE family went: me, JP, my mom, Camdyn, my brother, my other brother and his daughter, and my sister and her 3 kids.

    Discovering Hidden Gems

We created a stop by stop itinerary of the full Road to Hana loop, including where to stop for food, which you can check out HERE. It leads you to some amazing places like Kapalua, Honolua Bay, Iao Valley State Park, Petroglyphs, and the Nakalele Blowhole. Some things we didn’t get around to doing, but really wanted to do was wine tasting at Maui Wine and visit the Lavender Farm. Operating hours for many places were still reduced when we visited due to the pandemic, so in normal times we definitely would have been able to fit these into our 6 day itinerary.

  • Fun Things to Do in Buffalo NY: The Most Amazing Activities in Buffalo

While it’s very exciting for the locals, Buffalo’s rebirth provides new reasons for tourists to travel there. It’s home to Buffalo’s only year round urban hot springs. We rented water bikes from Water Bikes of Buffalo, and it’s one of the most fun things to do in Buffalo, NY. It’s one of the best activities in Buffalo that’s in this Buffalo travel guide.

    Discovering Hidden Gems

We tried the Coconut Crusted Mahi Mahi from Ae’s Thai Kitchen and a Mahi Mahi Grilled Fish Sandwich with 2 sides from the food truck around the corner. JP ordered the Miso Phat Roll which is a Spicy Tuna Roll with Cucumber Broiled Unagi, Avocado topped with Tobiko, Unagi Sauce & Sesame Seeds. I had the 69 Roll which is a California Roll with Crab, Avocado & Cucumber wrapped with Broiled Unagi & topped with Green Onions, Unagi Sauce, Tobiko & Sesame Seeds. We shared an order of Irish Style Nachos which is Fries covered with Cheese and topped with Pulled Pork, Bacon, Onions, Jalapenos, Tomatoes, and Sour Cream.

  • Camping on the Yorke Peninsula

Gleeson’s Landing, named after Mr Gleeson, is a big campground on the Yorke Peninsula. 19 kilometres south-west of Corny Point – access off Corny Point to Marion Bay Road. Additionally, booking.com advertise many different accommodation styles on the Yorke Peninsula, so you are sure to find the perfect place. I just booked travel insurance with World Nomads again and it always impresses me how quickly I get the quote, and in fact, the entire process, from quote to policy in hand, only takes minutes.

Maui Itinerary Day 6 – Departure Day

We normally don’t care about room views since we don’t spend a whole lot of time in the room when we vacation. We enjoyed whale watching from our balcony and watching the sky change colors throughout the day. The downside was that a lot of the things we planned to do while over there like wine tasting at Maui Wine and visiting the Lavender Farm, were closed. Despite today technically being a travel day, we accomplished a lot since our flight was so late.

Maui Itinerary Day Five – Sunset Dinner Cruise

Also Forrest Gump is one of my all-time favorite movies, so I am down for Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. any time, any place. We shared the Shrimp Lover’s Heaven (as we always do) which comes which several types of shrimp and dipping sauces (and of course french fries on the side). We also needed to do our volunteer beach cleanup project from Pacific Whale Foundation, so we figured we should probably be spending our free time at a beach. So those were the highlights of our day – Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, Napili Bay, and a Sunset Dinner Cruise!

  • Free Things to Do in Miami: Best Free (or Really Cheap) Activities

It’s right across the road from the beach, and it’s a quieter section of beach by comparison to South Beach (and equally as pretty). If you feel like going to the beach, there’s a beach lounger with your name on it across the road. There’s also complimentary Wi-Fi, a free sunrise yoga class, complimentary security locker usage, and a weekly free shuttle to Little Havana. There are numerous art walks in Miami that happen all over the city, and it’s one of the best free things to do in Miami.

Maui Itinerary Day Four – Whale Watching and Luau

For the afternoon, we were hosted by the Maui Visitors Bureau and the Pacific Whale Foundation on a Deluxe Whale Watching Tour. Long story short, the resort set it up for us and sent us a confirmation for one date (our anniversary) and booked it for the previous date. We happened to catch it by a fluke encounter with a resort representative in Lahaina and the entire day was spent having the resort find last minute availability. The whale watching and luau were highlights of our entire trip and we are so glad we got to experience them both as part of our anniversary celebration.

Serving up a Slice of History

The name “Kounter” seemed fitting since this space is home to the original counter where the Friendship 9 staged their sit-in 60 years ago demanding service at the white-only lunch counter. When Chef Masone, who owns Kre8 Xperiences, an event and party planning company, and two culinary concepts in Florida, decided to return home and open a restaurant, he was especially interested in the event space at the back of the building at 135 E. Main Street. When Williamson finished school at Friendship Junior College, he said he couldn’t find work in Rock Hill. Mr. Williamson and his family were able to come in and be the first people served at Kounter, and Masone said, “
