Highlights
  • How to check boot size and fit for mountaineering shoe

This is usually quite different than your normal “town” footwear and boot size. Fully converted to vapor barriers years ago after reading Extreme Alpinism and testing out the concept with socks and jackets. If you plan to go mountaineering at altitude or spend long days walking, your feet are going to swell and they need space to adjust inside. It’s always been a balance between snug for good foot technique and having enough room to avoid pinch points and enable good circulation.

    Rock Climbing in Manali

It didnt snow here this year so now in February, as the temperatures rise, we are venturing out to get loads of climbing done. No matter if you have never climbed before, or are beginner with some experience or someone with loads of experience Let them experience the joy of rock climbing. We leave during the day, climb, camp out in the wild, climbing again next day and return back to base.

  • Essentials for your first one day trek: Checklist for packing: Make It Happen

Hiking boots: We recommend you use ankle shoes as twisting of ankle on trails is the most common injury and prime cause of not being able to complete the trek or hike. If you are going for long day then please carry water filtration system or more water with you. Extra jacket: If its going to rain, carry a waterproof layer or if you are expecting cloudy weather then carry a warm jacket. Other essentials for your one day trek, which need to be in your pack are:

  • Roopkund Trek Diary

Walking across the meadows are still fresh in my mind and after a long day trek we camped for the day at around 4 pm and we played cricket in that high altitude. The next day was the final ascent to roopkund Lake and we started by early morning 5.00 am to avoid the hard snow since its easier to walk on the fresh snow than hard ones. We started our descent and as the snow started getting hard we were made to slide through the snow which was one of the best experiences I had. We reached the base and started our way back and in next 1 day we were back to the lohajung and then started our journey back home with lifelong memories.

  • Essentials for your First One Day Trek

Here’s a small list of things to consider for those who want to take the first step before climbing higher peaks and that is Trekking or Hiking. Understand the terrain, region and altitude, look for flora/fauna, watch other participants on how they walk, their gears, their style of walk (uphill and downhill), notice how your body responds on the trial, the breathing pattern, your body balance and enjoy being in nature. *Using satellite/radio devices in India without proper license/permits is not allowed. Follow 7 principles of Leave No Trace, which is available on Google or I will cover in next post.

Salomon Sports, the global leader in trail running and winter sports equipment, recently unveiled details of its developing Play Minded Program.
