Hi, I’m Julia. I’m a college student who is double-majoring and double-minoring, and still finds time to travel. I’ve been to 4 continents, 28 countries, and 206 cities, which means I still have so much exploring to do.
I am by no means a solo traveler, nor have I stopped working or schooling in order to go on these adventures. I travel with my family, and since I was homeschooled from kindergarten to high school, we mostly traveled during low-seasons (which was so wonderful because we didn’t have to deal with large crowds, long lines, or expensive flights!) And if you know anything about homeschooling you know that your parents try to make everything and everywhere a learning experience. This definitely means I have spent many, many hours researching, writing papers, and presenting slide shows on our destination before we ever even set foot on an airplane. I hope to share some cool facts I’ve learned during these projects, and I hope to share them with you in a way that peaks your interest in learning about cultures before exploring them.
I also love being a tourist in my own city. I find it so fun discovering unique opportunities just beyond my backyard – opportunities that are not your usual touristic points. For me, traveling is not just 14 hour-flights to exotic locations, or cross-country road trips with ever-changing scenery. It’s experiencing the community and the culture all around you. It is about exploring and letting your curiosity lead you to amazing discoveries you may have never encountered. I want to show you all the wonderful (and not-so-well-known) things to see and do in the beautiful (and very hot and humid) Orlando, Florida.
Along all my travels I’ve made incredible memories, met amazing people, experienced diverse cultures, and acquired some funny stories to share.
My desire is to share these experiences with you to inspire your next destination.
So, welcome aboard! I ask that you fasten your seat belts at this time, because this is going to be a wild ride. On behalf of myself and Beyond My Fence, I hope you have a pleasant journey.
Earlier this week I posted a blog on six things to do in Central Florida(that aren’t theme parks), and this week I wanted to specifically focus on things you can do in and around Seminole County.
Seminole County is 345 square feet, and is the fourth-smallest county in Florida, but don’t let that deceive you into thinking there isn’t much to do.
Seminole County has so much to offer, but I’m sure if you’re reading this post you probably spend many weekends wondering where to take your kids or trying to find fun date ideas for you and your significant other.
n’t go on and on about this day because really it was just 14 long hours of plane rides, connections, and sleeping during plane rides and connections.
When we went last year (2018) you were allowed to come and take pictures on your own phone (no professional cameras allowed unless you paid a fee) for free, and only paid if you decided to pick some flowers (I think it was $1 per sunflower).
’re charging $3 per person (2 and under are free), which I think is fair because a lot of people were going to take pictures and posting it on social media, and it’s only fair that Lancaster Family Farms gets a little $$ from all the hard work it took to create the props and plant the flowers.
All in all, if you love sunflowers, photo opportunities, or exploring unique locations in your own Central Florida backyard (or just want to escape the hustle and bustle of the theme parks), take a drive to Center Hill and enjoy all the Lancaster Family Farms has to offer!Sadly, this time we visited Sorrento
We honestly weren’t expecting much from the farm, and were slightly worried about the higher admission fee, but it was the closest sunflower field that was open, so off we went.
So, whether Oregon is on your bucket list or if you’re like me and need to be convinced to visit the 33rd state, keep reading! It was our first day in Oregon and the family we were staying with told us to put on some warm clothes, borrow their snow boots, and get ready for a nice hike to see waterfalls.
Park entry is $5 to park for the day, so you can enjoy the beauty of the park for as long (or as short) as you want.
I thought the license was very reasonably priced ($10 for residents, $28 for non-residents), and with it you get to keep 12 male Dungeness Crabs and 24 Red Rock Crabs.
It’s a great place for the kids to play (there’s a playground), to walk your dog (there is a dog park), and to have a nice picnic (at the open field), take some great nature and portrait photographs, geocache, and so much more.
To be completely honest, I kind of went into a food coma after the first round of food and don’t remember everything we ordered, but I know everything was amazing, and we talked about Bargarten Bavarian Social Haus for the rest of the week because it was that good and the flavors were forever imprinted in our brains.
n’t know about you, but I love a good Mexican restaurant and the last place I was expecting to eat mouthwatering Mexican cuisine was in Salem, Oregon, but I was pleasantly surprised.
said that if we liked coffee we had to go to Dutch Bros. Coffee because it was the best coffee in the state, if not the whole country.
I tried the German Chocolate and the Annihilator (a chocolate macadamia nut breve *googles what the definition of breve is as I type this blog post*), but still the Caramelizer was my favorite, so much so that I made my family stop at a Dutch Bros. Coffee to pick up my last cup before boarding the plane back home.
