How do I even begin to describe this past weekend?! 🏝️ I hosted my first reading retreat in Key West, FL and all I keep thinking is how lucky I am for that time with these women! We read #TheLastTrainToKeyWest before our trip and discussed over a private dinner (thanks for the gifted copies @berkleypub!) We went to bookstores like @booksandbooks, toured the @hemingwayhomemuseum, took a food tour with @keywestfoodtours,held a book swap, enjoyed a delicious meal from @keywestpersonalchef, and ranked Key Lime Pies all over the island! (@mattheessenskeywest has the best one!) We also balanced these activities with leisure at the backyard pool, beaches, and shopping. What a weekend for traveling- it definitely wasn’t easy for some of us with delays and cancelations (we missed you @erineliz828!), but this group made the most of it and kept each other’s spirits high! I’m so thankful for this time and for the chance to grow closer with this group of women! Some of us knew each other from book club and some of us took a leap of faith and joined the trip not knowing anyone. It takes real courage and vulnerability to branch out and do that. I’m so grateful these women trusted me to plan a memorable retreat for them! To the women that joined me, thank you for trusting me to plan a memorable retreat! Since filming this, I’ve read two books in this stack - #TheLastTrainToKeyWest and #ACOTAR Thanks to the tagged publishers for the gifted copies! Loved them both! I can’t wait to discuss Last Train to Key West with the retreat group this weekend! My bags are packed and I’m definitely bringing more books than I’ll be able to read, but I’m so ready to kick off our literary weekend! I’ve been dreaming of hosting a reading retreat for years! Maybe even the strongest magic there is.” #TheLostStory is Meg Shaffers latest novel and it’s full of whimsy and magic! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It felt like a tender love letter to my inner child. You can be an adult and still enjoy magical fairy tales. The friendships. The loyalties. The quests. The sacrifices. I loved it!! The book has been marketed as ‘inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia’ and a wondrous fairy tale for grown-ups. One of my biggest struggles when planning a vacation is picking the perfect airplane read. The pressure to pick a book that you can sink into for 2+ hours is big! The Lost Story is the perfect airplane read, the perfect beach read, the perfect sitting on the couch in the A/C read! It will transport you! My only reservation from making it 5⭐️ is I wanted MORE. I would’ve loved for it to go even deeper. I almost can’t believe I’m saying that because fantasy is so out of my norm, but that’s a testament to how much I enjoyed this story! Out July 16th!
