Plant-Based Maiah: Vegan, Gluten-Free Nourishing Recipes

These muffins are super fast, easy to make, and made with simple ingredients which is everything you need in a recipe during this tough time of staying trapped indoors! Plus the bonus is that kids can help you make them: have them mash the bananas and help you stir everything together. To keep them gluten-free, use gluten-free oats in the recipe and to keep them vegan, use a flax or chia egg by mixing 1 TBSP flax or chia meal with 3 TBSP warm water and setting it aside to "gel" before using it in the recipe! Fill muffin cups almost to the top and back 18 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Cancers such as mesothelioma, as well as lung, laryngeal and ovarian cancer have all been linked to asbestos, as well as scarring of the lungs and thickening of the lung lining, both of which cause shortness of breath according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The agency will only restrict products that have a direct risk to workers who may come into contact with it during the manufacturing process, but there are also indirect risks and secondary exposure risks that are contributing to the continual danger of asbestos. This does not even account for those who are exposed to asbestos when the workers carry traces of it home on their clothing or equipment, or via indoor air in buildings or housing where deterioration of materials or crumby (friable) asbestos materials may be present. (4) Even in 2020, many people remained exposed to asbestos which continues to put them and their families at high risks for various serious and even fatal health issues and until stricter laws and bans are in place, millions of people are likely to develop these cancers and illnesses due to asbestos.

Harder said than done (especially in this madness of March 2020), staying connected with loved ones through phone calls and FaceTime and face to face when possible is an excellent way of keeping your spirits buoyed. Try to stay positive by visualizing your body healing and focusing on as many positive things in your life as possible. Again like above: get some gel ice packs (this 2-pack to swap out as they thaw is great) and aim for icing and elevation the injured part (if possible) at least 4-5 times a day for 20 minutes on and off, or as your doctor or physical therapist prescribes. Just somebody with tons of experience (you know, femur fracture, c-section, bunion surgeries 1, 2 and 3...).

Surprisingly, this is a question I get a lot: do I (or can I) wear ballet shoes in barre class? However, the floor is either a thin carpet (ugh, Pure Barre, Dailey Method, why???), or more likely, a smooth hardwood floor that is great for a fitness class, but not so much for ballet shoes, which will slip. Barre class takes place on the smooth floor for most of the class, and an exercise mat for part of it. You will never do turns or pirouettes in a barre class (unless it is a ballet barre class in a ballet studio, but really, that is unlikely).
