Went for a dip in Lake Michigan today. I needed a swim I guess🤷🏻♀️The air was 39° I’m not sure about the water but I imagine somewhere around 50°. Would you ever cold water swim?
Blessing the timeline with basic witch pumpkin pancakes🥞 . 🍂2c flour 🍂1/4c sugar 🍂2T brown sugar 🍂1T baking powder 🍂pinch of salt 🍂1T pumpkin pie spice or combination of cinnamon, ginger, clove, nutmeg 🍂1 1/2c milk 🍂2 eggs 🍂1c pumpkin purée 🍂2T melted butter or oil . 🍁mix the dry ingredients in a bowl 🍁mix the wet ingredients in a separate bowl 🍁slowly fold the wet into the dry until just combined 👀you can mix them in the same bowl but they won’t be as fluffy 🍁pour 1/4c at a time into a pan over medium heat, flip when the tops begin to look less shiny 🤤🤤🤤
🚨sappy cry baby post ahead🚨 . I went for a walk at “my spot” for the first time in nearly 6 months(it’s much easier to be here without Asa🤷🏻♀️) but I didn’t realize how badly I needed this space because I went about 200’ in and started crying. It’s Asa’s first day of (in person) school and I felt weird about it. I also haven’t been by myself to truly do whatever I want alone for like 6 months, so today is super bittersweet. I also miss my grocery shopping/Starbucks buddy ugh. I also really missed @theunwoundgypsy 😭 . But then I saw a snake shortly after and without being too woo woo, snakes are the universal symbol for transformation. and I needed to be reminded of the transformation we’re all going through whether it’s returning to school/work, the end of summer, beginning stages of autumn idk and may we all come out a little better. And may the leaves turn that much more orange soon😬this probably all sounds so stupid lmao idc
I made a steak on Saturday that I’m still thinking about🤤 Is there a more ~summery~ dinner than grilled steak and farmers market heirloom tomatoes? Probably not. Heavily salted the steak about 2 hrs before grilling, let it sit at room temp and then I rinsed the salt off, grilled for 3min per side on @webergrills let it rest. Then after slicing I sprinkled Maldon flaky salt and freshly cracked pepper with a drizzle of olive oil. . And then I just ate it with my hands 🤷🏻♀️
I made some blue cheese dressing because you guys are gross for buying bottles of ready made dressing. . Don’t like blue cheese? Use feta, or goat cheese, idgaf use a cut up piece of string cheese if you want . Don’t like mayonnaise? Grow up, or use plain yogurt . 🥄1/2c mayonnaise 🥄1/4c sour cream 🥄1/4c buttermilk 🥄couple dashes Worcestershire sauce 🥄decent squeeze of Dijon mustard 🥄like 3ish tablespoons of white or red wine vinegar 🥄some chopped fresh herbs(I have basil, thyme, parsley, and a couple of those window scallions we all tried to do) 🥄some chopped garlic 🥄some cayenne pepper 🥄salt & pepper 🥄a chunk of blue cheese . 🍽mix it all in a bowl and eat it however you want
