Some moms put me to shame with the thought, care, and time they put into building their kid’s Easter baskets. In previous years, I’ve just bought baskets, candy, and a bunch of trinkets in a hurried trip to the Dollar Tree. I’m going to order awesome, pre-filled Easter baskets with Amazon Prime and have it arrive on my doorstep, ready to go, in two days. How about one of mom’s summer sun hats for daughter and a make-shift pastel bow-tie for a son?

I took the opposite tact when I started making videos and I was like let’s make videos that are not for kids, but my kids haven’t seen a lot of them. In case you’ve been living under a rock, (or just preoccupied with raising kids and doing ALL the things!), skinny jeans are out and mom jeans are IN for 2021. They are comfortable with their bodies and want to feel comfortable in their jeans. Even when I’m above my ideal weight, the look of skinny jeans makes me feel curvy and attractive. Mom jeans make me feel like I’m wearing a burlap sack.

Unless you’ve followed me on Facebook or IG, you may not know that we made a move from the coastal country of Virginia to Music City, bought a house and settled in Nashville, Tennessee – less than a year before COVID hit. Maybe it’s just that I’ve had more years in a complicated city like Los Angeles than that of the south, but after six moves between four states and two coasts over ten years – we’re in a place that finally feels like home. I was already in bed, but our Emergency Weather Radio (daughter and I are weather geeks) started blaring and at 12:30am, I began getting texts and calls from colleagues that lived in East Nashville (just west of us in the storm’s path) as the twister ripped through their neighborhoods, barely missing our radio tower. I got a call from an executive at United Stations in New York City who wanted to create a weekly syndicated country music morning show and was curious if I’d be interested in writing it, as well as directing talent through the scripts.

Let the little ones “paint” the floor with water (possibly with the tiniest bit of color added to it) using all different sizes of paint brushes, etc. I’m hoping that after a few weeks of this routine, we won’t need the baskets anymore, but I’m not holding my breath. When they put the toothbrush in this, they don’t end up transferring water and toothpaste residue to the counter or medicine cabinet when they put their toothbrush away. I hate to admit this, but I am not above lying to make my home life easier when no one listens, so here goes: I fake a letter from the landlord saying they’re coming to check on [insert random thing, furnace filters, fire alarms, whatever} and then act like we just got it in the mail.

Along with this photography blog, I also actively write for my travel blog Blind Travels. The last time I traveled was January 2020 when my wife, guide dog Fauna and I traveled to San Francisco for the opening of my Landscapes of the Body exhibition at the Lighthouse for the Blind gallery. After writing all the backlogged articles and editing all the photos that were waiting for attention, I ended up finding interest in including articles here on the latest photography news. I am a big advocate for starting new projects and with the pandemic, I started a project which focuses (heh) on social distancing and accessibility.
